Beautiful.
An extra inning win, with six relievers combining for 6 2/3 scoreless racks? Amazing!
I wasn't able to watch or listen to the game, but it's a thrill just looking at the box score. Capuano did fine--just shy of a quality start and kept the Crew in the game against Kerry Wood--and another 12 hits. Would've been nicer if those hits were bunched earlier on, to avoid the extra innings, but hitting is hitting, and I'm glad to be able to mention in the same sentence as the Brewers.
Adams pitched the bottom of the 12th for the save, which may indicate that he's the closer, or may mean nothing, as all bets are off in a 12-inning game. I'm a little confused about the wisdom of using Glover for just 1/3 of an inning. Looks like he was pulled for a PH after getting that last out. But Glover, obviously, could've pitched much longer (and won't be needed in the rotation for a while), so Yost may have been smarter to do a double-switch when bringing him in the game.
On the flip side, you gotta wonder what Dusty was thinking using Rusch as a lefty specialist. Rusch has been solid since he left Milwaukee, and if I were looking at an extra-inning game with no end in sight, I'd rather have Rusch in there for a few innings than have to rely on somebody like Jon Leicester for multiple frames.
With today's win the Brewers are 3-0, tied (for the moment anyway) for first, racking up the doubles and maintaining a bullpen ERA of 0.00. Fun facts:
- Milwaukee's pythagorean winning percentage now predicts they'll go 150-12.
- Carlos Lee is on a pace for 162 doubles, 54 HRs, and 270 RBIs.
- Brady Clark's OBP is .429, with 4 walks per K.
- 2005 is the first 3-0 start since 1995.
I'll take it. I've added a poll: how long do you think the winning streak will last?

what bigtime win for the Crew
first of all, Lyle Overbay is the freakin' man. The guy looks like a straight up all-star. 2 outs, 2 strikes in the 9th and he doubles in the tying run. The Crew has to figure out a way to keep Lyle when Fielder is ready, put Lyle in rightfield and trade Geoff K Jenkins, do what you have to do, but Lyle is somethin else
Mike Adams looked great getting the save, and Junior Spivey was a bigtime difference maker...meanwhile did anyone see the range that Hardy displayed early in the game? That kid is gonna be good
yep, 87 wins is a good solid prediction, especially if Capuano can pitch like he did today

Whoa.
And the Brewers will have a couple of marginal prospects fresh from the minor system of the contender Spivey's playing for.
It's great that the team is so gung-ho. And it looks like a really fun team to watch, no question about that. But let's not get carried away...2 of those wins WERE against the Pirates :).
hmmmmm
you give me Overbay-Spivey-Fielder-Weeks all on the Brewers in '07 and we're looking at a World Series caliber team
