Yost in final year of contract
With Yost in his last year of a 3-year contract, and 1 year left in Melvin's, it sounds like the Brewers are going to extend the contracts of both (per the Journal Sentinel).

Personally I think this would be a great move. You can just start to feel this team develop and on the verge of something great. Rickie, Carlos, Prince, Brady, Sheets, et al... there's something here. And I think Ned and Melvin are the guys who can help take us to the next level. Developing continuity by keeping everybody together will be crucial to the Brewers' success.
Now, another second half collapse like last year and maybe I'll rethink this. But for all of the Brewers' struggles this year, those two are not the main factors, in my opinion. At least not as much as underachieving, overpaid veterans (ahem Spivey, Jenkins).
But anyway, should be a great 2nd half!

go brewers
But if he keeps bunting guys from second to third, and the team keeps playing below .500 despite outscoring their opponents, well, what can be done?
