Rumorville: Clint Barmes?!?!

You know what we need?  Another no-hit infielder to provide a backup in case JJ, Billy, and Craig Counsell go down.

Clint Barmes' plummeting average and Jason Jennings' soaring price tag have made them attractive trade targets. The Cardinals, Rangers and Brewers have explored deals for Barmes, with Milwaukee offering center fielder Brady Clark.

Even with top prospect Troy Tulowitzki expected to start at shortstop, Colorado isn't motivated to move Barmes. The Rockies have interest in Clark, but his salary is problematic - they would like the Brewers to eat $2 million of his $3.8 million contract - and they are not sure he could outperform Barmes if they try him in center field.

OK, so "no-hit" is kind of over-the-top: before last year's .220 BA disaster, he'd been hitting .280-ish.  In the last two years, he's been a member of the 5-5 club as well.  Actually, I'm not sure where his upside is: he doesn't walk, steal, or hit home runs.  But anyway, there you go.  His stats are here.
