Brewers and Ohka avoid arbitration

Add Ohka to the (short) list of Brewers avoiding arbitration. Just in off the wire:

Star-divide

The Milwaukee Brewers and right-hander Tomo Ohka reached agreement today on a contract for the 2006 season, avoiding a salary arbitration hearing scheduled for Thursday afternoon in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Details of the deal were not immediately available but Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash indicated the sides settled for less than the $4.725 million midpoint of the figures filed. Okha had requested a salary of $5.2 million, with the Brewers filing for $4.25 million.

The agreement allowed Ash to leave Milwaukee and head for Phoenix to join general manager Doug Melvin in preparation for spring training, rather than traveling to Florida. It also kept alive the streak of Melvin and Ash of not going to an arbitration hearing since taking over the Brewers' baseball operations at the end of the 2002 season.

Ohka, who will be 30 on March 18, made $2.75 million last season, when he went 11-9 with a 4.04 earned run average. After being acquired in a June trade with Washington, he compiled a 7-6 record in 22 appearances (20 starts) with the Brewers.

Wow, dude.
You're making me look bad :).

That's great that they skipped arby.  Now to get to work on that extension!  If the Clark deal is any indication, maybe they'll be announcing an extension in about 9 hours :).

Too many musicals with your sister
Which sounds like a euphemism for something, though it's best to leave that alone.

If I was always talking about
how much I like Dorothy from Wizard of Oz ...now THAT's a euphemism for something.

Come to think of it, I did take my ex-girlfriend to see Wicked last October...damn.

O/T
I'm reading the book (Wicked) now.  When I was in New York last summer, is was booked solid, or we would have seen it.

No go read the John Donovan article, so I won't be alone in calling it a piece of crap.

Still booked solid.
My ex-gf and I got rush tickets--25 tickets, 200 people showed up for the lottery, and we won.

When my sister was in town last month we entered the lottery twice; lost both times.  Very good show.  The girl playing Glinda is excellent.  You'll have to tell me what you think when you've finished the book.
