9/30 Game Thread: Brewers (Spoiling) at Cardinals (Salvaging)

I'm calling it: Ben Sheets is going to throw a shutout today.  What's more, the Brewers are going to score 5 runs off of Jeff Suppan.  Sheets will strike out Pujols at least twice, and Prince Fielder will hit a home run.

Because FOX and MLB are fascists sometimes, the game is at 12:25, and if you want to watch it, you'll have to suffer through the babbling of national announcers who shall remain nameless.  (If only they would remain voicebox-less.)

Go spoiler Brewers!

Actually
Isn't Sutton calling the game on Fox with Lou Piniella?

by battlekow on Sep 30, 2006 11:38 AM CDT   0 recs

I heard
...they were going to replace Sutton with Hideo Nomo.
"C'mon, boys, let's get 'em some RUNS!" --- Daron Sutton, pretty much every game of the 2005 season.

by roguejim on Sep 30, 2006 11:45 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

That's crazy talk
Everyone knows Nomo's delivery isn't suitable for Western audiences.

by battlekow on Sep 30, 2006 11:48 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Speaking of...
"Sheets will strike out Pujols at least twice."

In the entire month of April 2004, Pujols struck out five times; once on Opening Day (the 5th) against Ben Sheets, then not again until the 23rd, when he struck out twice against Matt Kinney (!), then once two days later, again vs. Sheets. Not until April 30th against the Cubs did Pujols strike out against a non-Brewer.

i hired randall simon
to sneak into the cards' dugout and wack pooholes in the head with a huge bat. so pujols is out for today's game, i think.

by boobs on Sep 30, 2006 12:13 PM CDT   0 recs

Today Reds fans and Brewers fans
can come together for a common purpose: beating unimaginative sports cities.  St. Louis named both its baseball AND football team the Cardinals.  Pittsburgh has three professional sports teams, and only two colors for all of them.  So here's to beating the Deadbirds, and here's to beating the Black and Gold!

Come on guys. I'd like to know whether Pujols was really out or not.

by battlekow on Sep 30, 2006 12:40 PM CDT   0 recs

Let's go Brewers!

by Brendanukkah on Sep 30, 2006 12:41 PM CDT   0 recs

By the way
35-0 Badgers at the half.

by battlekow on Sep 30, 2006 12:43 PM CDT   0 recs

Wow
That's Jenkins' first hit since the walkoff homer. And Sutton is an asshole for saying Jenkins should have been platooned and not benched, keeping in mind that the guy he would have been platooned with was Corey Hart.

by battlekow on Sep 30, 2006 12:45 PM CDT   0 recs

I lied
I forgot he got a hit yesterday.

Tony LaRussa.

by MixFMKyle on Sep 30, 2006 12:49 PM CDT   0 recs

If the Cardinals miss the postseason
They should put together a Beer Cup Championship. It would be a round robin between the Brewers, Cardinals and Rockies. They could play on Spike TV. In lingerie.

what i dont understand
is if these catchers have such great arms, why dont they teach them to be pitchers?

by boobs on Sep 30, 2006 1:04 PM CDT   0 recs

Maybe Sheets should aim for Suppan's arm
Get him out of the game, and turn things over to the Cards pen.  Not that I'm advocating that.  Just sayin...

by Brendanukkah on Sep 30, 2006 1:05 PM CDT   0 recs

Yeah, or let one slip
and knock out Pooh-Holes.

by MixFMKyle on Sep 30, 2006 1:06 PM CDT   0 recs

What's Eckstein doing in the game?
Doesn't he have some billy goats to go yell at for crossing his bridge?

by Brendanukkah on Sep 30, 2006 1:08 PM CDT   0 recs

Right about the time
He decided it would be a good idea to quit managing the Mariners, and go manage the Devil Rays.

Suppan's pitching like Super-pan.  Or maybe the Brewer's offense is about as good as ours against middling pitching.
