Hey, Cubs lose! Cubs lose!

Well, the final out was just recorded.  And as Brewers fans, although we didn't win the Central, we got as many postseason wins as the Cubs did.  I may take a little too much pleasure in seeing the Cubs lose, but I was watching the game as well as perusing the bizarro BCB and have a couple of observations.  First of, I don't know if some of them are just plain retarded or just preoccupied with the game, but when asked how many double plays are possible to get in one game (asked rhetorically), one commenter gave this insight. Luckily other fans corrected him, so not all of them are that stupid.  Also, I think Daron Sutton has started posting over there.

Final series lines for some of the Cubbies:

Soriano: 2-14, 1 BB, 3 K, 0 RBI
Lee: 4-12, 1 R, 1 BB, 4 K, 0 RBI
Ramirez: 0-12, 1 BB, 5 K, 0 RBI

They also had 4 GIDPs in the final game, one coming with the bases loaded and 1 out.

27 LOB (9 per game) doesn't help, either.

It sucks we didn't advance, but at least the Cubs won't go any further!

ahhhh what a great game
i wonder whats the most double plays to occur in a game in 9 innings. how crazy would that be to have a game with 18 DPs, one every half inning. The Jay........?

I would assume...
the most double plays possible in a game would be 18.  not 9, not 13.  You can only have one DP per 1/2 inning, so since there are no 4-out innings, it would be the number of 1/2 innings in a game, hence 18.

Actually, it's 27*
*The catcher would have to drop every third strike, after reaching first the batter would have to steal second before the next strikeout, and he would be thrown out advancing to third. Then you could have twenty-seven double plays, since the strikeout is counted.

see
i thought about this situation, but i didnt think that would be counted as a double play. isnt a definition of a double play defined as a play in which 2 outs are recorded. while the SO counts, an out is not recorded for that

I don't know
Probably.

however, if it were true
we could have 54 DP's in a game. oh these extremes are so much fun, if only they would happen once in awhile

so i found this
joe torre, july 21 1975 not only grounded into 4 DP but also committed an error. thats about as rough as it gets. im too dumb at the internet to know how to post links into a word instead of copy/pasting the whole address, so youll just have to belive me.

I shouldn't do this...
But without reading too much over there, I have to say this is a great comment at bizarro BCB.

I like this one better:
As the Baseball Nazi would say:
No "W" for you! Come back, one year!

At least I won $20 off of a bet with my friend.

Which is better?
Barely missing the playoffs, or getting into the playoffs and not putting up a fight?  Both teams tied for number of post season wins.

Next season is going to be a treat.

Tough call.
I will say, with the way the D-Backs are playing (or the Rockies, for that matter), I could totally imagine the same thing happening to the Crew.

Well...except for the game Gallardo was going to pitch :).

Weird, but not weird.

Asked what was said during the phone conversation with LaRussa, Yost said, "That falls under 'nobody's business" right; except all brewer fans who wanted a win!
