Is this the list?

From Deadspin

OK, let's do a little test of the Internets today: In the last hour, we have been forwarded a list of players mentioned in the Mitchell Report by about 25 different people. Is this list substantiated? No. Is it from an MLB official? No. Do we have any reason to believe it's anything but random bunk? No. But it's what's making the rounds today, and we're less than three hours away, and if the list is wrong, we'll know real soon.

But, if you're curious, here's the list of players supposedly mentioned in the report, according to just about every email we've received. It could very likely be one of those Web urban legends that somehow got around, like when everyone thought Scott Baio was dead. It probably is, actually. (We mean, come on: The list has Rich Garces on it.) We'll know soon enough, but, for now, for "fun" ... After the jump.

(UPDATE: A source inside baseball says this list is "not entirely accurate." Emphasis ours.)

(SECOND UPDATE: WNBC apparently has the same list, some names of which have been disputed by baseball. But not all. And less than two hours to go!)

Star-divide

Looks like the known names + the suspected names. No Turnbow which should have been obvious. I think there will be more obscure names than high profile, but that's just my guess, based on who's been busted so far. I'm also curious about Geoff Jenkins. He was taking something (Creatine?) for a while IIRC

Pujols!
That would be a big deal.

Otherwise, the only thing surprising about the list is the number of names on it.

No Jenkins.  Go figure.

What's going on here
no love for Robert Machado.  He was a brewer for a bit.

One thing I hate about this speculation
is that we do not know what respect these names are in there.  The sad thing is that I don't think it will matter.  If you are in the report, it's a black mark, but it could be exonnerating, yet your name will be dragged through the mud.

Weak
Wow.. I'm sorry but that was pretty weak.  Seems like they basically said "MLB PA owns us. So yeah, we can't do squat".  People were using roids big time, but we aren't going to punish.

And Gary Bennett, figured all roided up you'd suck less!

Doing a quick search
through the report for "Brewers" I came up with the following current and former Brewers:

Josias Manzanillo
Ron Villone
Fernando Vina
Eric Gagne
Gary Bennett
David Bell
Steve Woodard
Derrick Turnbow

There might be more, but I don't have time to check it more fully until 4-ish, and I would expect by that time someone else would have it covered.

Also
I saw only one mention of Guillermo Mota, and it wasn't implicating him, just mentioning he was in the Lo Duca-to-Marlins trade.

bad enough...
simply being equated with Paul LoDuca is pretty bad news.  Maybe even worse than being considered the equivalent to Johnny Estrada.
Weird, but not weird.

Yes its not accurate.
I thought based on the description that it was not likely to be accurate.  Its just a list that has been going around the internet this morning.

Too many high profile names on the list and the only low profile names were already known.

I didn't mean to imply that it was a genuine list.  The PDF on MLB has all the names, but they are scattered throughout the report.  Nothing really surprising to me.

Fernando Vina was surprising.  David Justice perhaps.
Clemens, not so much.

I'm sure someone will put the real list out here soon.
