Outfield

I believe I saw Scott Podsednik's name as a free agent outfielder, why wouldn't it make sense for the crew to go after him? I mean wouldn't this give us a solid lead off hitter? I think a batting order of Scotty P, Weeks, Braun, Fielder, Hart, Hardy, Hall, Kendall, pitcher would be pretty solid.

I guess I didn't keep up with the White Sox too much last year and see that he only played in 62 games so maybe there was an injury. Anyone have any thoughts?

Yes
He sucks.  You do not want a leadoff hitter, let alone any hitter with a sub .300 OBP

if they signed him
it'd be the worst move this off season

Otherwise, though
it's a good idea.  :)

Podsednik's stats are are here.  Other than his career season with us in 2003 (after which the shrewd Moustache could have sold high), he's been a pretty big disappointment.  His OPS in 2003 was .822; he hasn't topped .700 since.

Really, he's a white Tony Gwynn Jr.

fair enough
I guess I just remembered his first couple seasons (mostly the 70 SB season).

Who will hit leadoff for us this year? Weeks?

Weeks I should think.
He has good obp skills, and if his wrists are really a-ok, I am assuming he will have a monster season for a 2B.

anyone
who can post an OBP 100 points above their AVG and has the potential to either hit .280 or slug .450 (of which Rickie has the potential to do both), is a very valuable player.  if they are a 2B, that's amazing.  i'm almost guaranteeing a monster year from Rickie.  i have no doubts about who our leadoff man is right now.
