espn insider

I see on espn insider that kenny lofton could be handed for milwaukee. Does this mean he goes to left? Or do they move hall again and put him in left and lofton in center. Don't see lofton in center since his arm is more suited for a corner outfield spot. Or does this mean Bill Hall is about to be traded. He is 40 but had some steals and hit for decent average. OH yes the veteran leadership this team so needs. Or so the "experts" think from last year.

probably left
and i'd guess he doesn't play full time, either.  He's a lefty, so he wouldn't platoon with Gross, but I wouldn't be surprised if he got 350-400 ABs, with some righty (maybe Dillon, or maybe LaPorta later on) taking the rest.
Weird, but not weird.

don't get too excited
league rules dictate he gets traded at the deadline anyway

well played
and, I think somebody pointed this out before, we get an extra supplemental draft pick if we trade him to the Indians.
Weird, but not weird.

Correct me if I'm wrong
but even at 41, he's still an above average hitter.  He did have an OPS+ of 105, and he can still play solid defense, which will help with Jinx's departure.  Jinx did have his flaws, but he was a very good defender.  And really, is there a player he'd be blocking?  It's not like he would be a downgrade from Gross, Gwynn, or Laporta at this point, and is a more consistant contributor than any third baseman on the market.

yep
and if he's a credible CFer, he's probably a very good LF.

Best of all for this team, his above-average OPS (though probably slightly below-average for a corner OF) is OBP-heavy.  He'd be an extremely good option to bat 2nd, if only because it meant Ned wouldn't have an excuse to bat Counsell (or, god forbid, Kendall) there.

Weird, but not weird.

Well,
you'd have to assume that he'll have good range and play the ball well, but what about his arm?  With a weak arm in center you'd see a lot of first to thirds, but how many more runs will we give up from 2nd on singles to left with Lofton in left?  That's the one part of Jenkins game I'm really going to miss.

Not that there appear to be many better choices than Lofton at this point.
