Prediction Thread!
haven't seen this posted yet, but I caught a little bit of mike and mike in the morning and both peter gammons and steve phillips of espn picked the crew to take home the nl central division crown this year. i didn't catch much of what else they said, but i did hear that.
maybe a prediction thread is in order?
[editor's note, by battlekow] That's a damn fine idea.

Predictions
- Bernie Brewer will take off his head and reveal that he is, indeed, Bud Selig after all these years.
- The Chorizo will win 30% of the encased meat races at the stadium, followed by the brat, hot dog, italian, and polish bringing up the rear. (seriously, that's a lot of running meat, I remember when the hot dog was the new guy - I still hate him)
- The Blue Jays will once again pick up David Cone for their final push to the playoffs, edging the Brewers by four games.
- Seriously, I think the Brewers will win the wild card, Fielder will put up a similar line to last year, Hart will do the same as Fielder (but steal more bases), Hall will improve slightly and will draw comparisons to Torii Hunter, Damian Miller will run into outs on the base paths, Ben Sheets stays off the DL and the Brewers statistically will have the best five starters in the majors, Turnbow isn't with the team by the end of the year, and Gallardo/Braun will be in the lineup come August. And Brian Anderson will do a great job calling the game, but will pick up Schroeder's crutches by July.
- Still an all, the team will try not to do too much with it and just take it to the other side. No sense in clogging up the bases or swinging for the fences.

Interesting that two people have us with 81 wins at fourth, and one has us with 85 wins in first. I think the consensus is, it's gonna be close at the top.

by iluvlamp on Mar 30, 2007 5:13 PM CDT 0 recs
here we go
cardinals 81-81
astros 79-83
cubs 75-87
reds 73-89
pirates 73-89
-rickie weeks hits .310 with 25 homers
-ben sheets and chris capuano both win 15 games
-prince fielder and bill hall each hit over 30 home runs
am i a homer-optimist? you bet. but i honestly believe that if the rotation stays healthy and the offense plays true to form, there is no way the crew is not in contention in september.
