Buehrle off the block?

MLB Trade Rumors is reporting that Buehrle has agreed to an extension with the ChiSox.  This is good for two reasons- we don't have to give up any of our guys in a dumb trade, and he (likely) won't be wearing a Cardinals uniform next year.  I, for one, never really thought he would be an upgrade over what we have, especially considering what we might have to give up. Update [2007-6-27 19:27:40 by Ball and Glove]: It appears that the extension might not happen. Chicago might be in talks with MB's agent, but nothing has been hashed out.

accept the fact
that it's a human-managed news aggregator (and a good one, at that), and you'll be much happier.

and by "news"
I mean "stuff that appears in newspapers and online columns and radio shows" ...not making any claims about the newsworthiness of often made-up trade rumors.

and to clarify further
Tim doesn't make stuff up--though he often speculates (and says that's what he's doing)--but 'reporters' such as Phil Rogers do more than their share.

i said it's irrational
they may have gotten better but they cited anonymous sources for crazy trades (like carl crawford for erwin sanatana) all the time.

if they ever have one of those speculations come true... you know, raise their batting average to like 1 in a 100, i might look at 'em differently.

in the end, human-managed news aggregation doesn't do much for me.

back on the block
the white sox beat writer mark gonzales now reporting that buehrle's agent says no extension talks have been taking place...

so... somebody is making something up... and some people are making a living/hobby out of disseminating made up stuff...
