Ryan Braun closes in on ROY

Hunter Pence has hit the DL for 4 - 6 weeks with an injured wrist.

Now I know that everyone here is familiar with Ryan Braun.  But I bet if you asked the average fan, they would be split at 50-50 between Pence and Braun for ROY.

Just a recap:

Braun     Pence

51 G          73 G
206 AB       312 AB
43 R          42  R
71 H          103 H
16 HR        12  HR
43 RBI       45  RBI
16 BB        10  BB
48 K          60  K
8  SB         8 SB
.392 OBP      .355 OBP
.670 SLG      .564 SLG
.345 AVG      .330 AVG

1.062 OPS  .919 OPS

One reason that some people lean toward Pence is because he has played an extra month.  Now Braun will catch up in playing time and as long as he keeps ups the gaudy numbers, he should be a lock for best rookie.

His HR numbers will clinch it.

One thing's for sure
Someone will vote for Matt Chico. Probably a friend of the guy who will vote for Jarrod Saltalamacchia just because he's a catcher. Either way, if the numbers are close, Braun will probably win because he's on a team that's in the thick of the pennant race

It's too bad about Pence. Things just keep going from bad to worse in Houston, huh?

well
to me its pretty obvious that braun is better than pence but I may be biased, the most pleasent suprise to me has been that brauns glove has been average, and that combined with his phenomenal production at theplate, makes him right now one of the better 3b in baseball
With Braun and Gallrado up, is it time for LaPorta to join the team?

but then...
Prince can't win if Ryan does!  Too bad we don't have a solid CYA candidate...would've been nice to sweep the major awards, including, if we go to the playoffs, manager of the year.
Weird, but not weird.

that'll be the day
YoGanna win with Gallardo on the mound.

some more votes for a brewer
depending on how Yovanni does in the absense  of sheets, he could garner a few votes if he dominates like jared weaver did last  year.  If his era stays the same and adds like 5-7 more wins, he's going to get some votes.  Its a tall order, but his talents represent the task at hand rather nicely.
Ned for Prez!! Seriously, he needs a new job.

This sounds similar to
Cal Eldred in '92.  He got a 1st place vote after going 11-2 with a 1.79 ERA in 100 innings with 62 Ks.
All Hail The Razor!!! Braun is The Savior!!!

Braun
As a diehard Cub fan (and a good fan of the Brewers dating back to the days of American League play and Molly and Yount), I am envious of Ryan Braun.  That kid has an unbelievable swing.  And upside in this league.  Talk about a dynamic duo in Prince and Braun.  Wow.  If I am Attanasio and Melvin, I am working 24/7 to get both these guys locked up to long-term deals ala what Cleveland routinenly does with young emerging talent (e.g., Grady Sizemore).
