The 2007 Scouting Report, By The Fans, For The Fans

For the fifth year in a row, I am once again asking for hardcore baseball fans to participate in the annual Scouting Report project, in which you evaluate the fielding characteristics of players on your team. If you have a few minutes, please drop by and evaluate the Brewers:

My vote is in....
IMHO, The top 5 defenders on this team in order are Counsell, Jenkins, Hardy, Miller, & Gwynn.  Hall has made huge improvements this year and Hart has shown improvement as well.  If those 2 guys keep improving they would be in top 5 next year.  Hardy is automatic on routine plays, but it just seems that he doesn't make the "web gem" plays that other SS's make.  Estrada's defense should be considered an oxymoron.
If A-Rod hits A-Bombs, does Fielder hit F-Bombs? It's dumb I know....

my vote on...
braun wasnt that horrible, until I got to throwing accuracy.  To which, I wish they had a -10.

Braun is encouraging
because he seems to make some pretty good reaction plays, he just follows them up by throwing over Fielder's head.  Luckily, throwing is something that can be taught.

Oh Yeah?
Did you ever see Drew Henson?
Bob Gibson threw 9 pitches: "two different fastballs, two sliders, a curve, a change-up, knockdown, brushback, and hit-batsman."

Well he's not going to have Ichiro's arm
But it's easier to teach a player to set and throw properly than to teach him reflexes/reaction.

Aw, Dillon didn't make the cut
I don't get to watch enough of the games to rate but I looked at the list nonetheless. Poor Joe, gets no respect.

Yeah, yeah, I know he's been on the team all of like two weeks. :)

Daily Ryan Braun leaderboard watch and more at my blog, Recondite Baseball.
