You're putting up a Cubs game thread
as if it your last.

That's how Ned would play it.

I'm unfurling it prematurely

This is not official, of course --- I'm just getting it warmed up.

Ned Yost in post-game interview: "I don't want to abuse (Yovani) right now."

I think the "Maybe later" is implied, though.

You can tell he hates these interviews, which is funny, 'cause it's not like he's getting grilled.

It's like he really wants to abuse the poor kid.

Fun posts from the "other" BCB:
"We have more talent all around than any other team in the tradegy central."

"Every time the Cubs give up a lead...
I'm going to kill a bunny."

"Screw Piniella
How many times is that idiot going to let a pitcher hit and then remove him an inning later without recording an out?  Marquis had been getting the ball up for a full inning before the sixth.  Why they are going in again to Lee is beyond asinine.  Marquis and Pineilla have been awful to this point.  If they win this one, it's in spite of those two fools tonight."

by Ted Simmons Speed Camp on Sep 11, 2007 9:16 PM CDT reply actions

More "other" BCB posts:
"I despise Ryan Braun!!!!
Brewers up 6-0....Ryan Braun is ugly with big ol' pop eyes."

by Ted Simmons Speed Camp on Sep 11, 2007 9:19 PM CDT reply actions

You left out all the Prince is fat
and Braun must be on HGH comments

isn't it nice to actually have guys on the Brewers good enough that other fans are jealous enough to hate on them lol

Fire Ned, Hire Joe Girardi

by WSB Chris on Sep 11, 2007 9:22 PM CDT up reply actions

Weird
They like personally attacking players they don't like.  Prince is fat, Braun is on steroids, Hart is ugly.

Like any of them wouldn't give his right nut to have any one of these three on the Cubs.

exactly like when Puljos was a rookie
I kept saying damn why cant we get a guy like that.

Well damn if we didn't get 2

They are just mad we drafted our good guys and didn't have to spend 300 million for guys Milwaukee would not trade for when you think about it.

The Brewers are better at 3rd and 1st then the Cubs.

and younger to boot.

Fire Ned, Hire Joe Girardi

by WSB Chris on Sep 11, 2007 9:29 PM CDT up reply actions

When Fielder...
Wins a gold glove and a World Series, then you might be able to say - "The Brewers are better at 3rd and 1st then the Cubs."

And the 300 million dollar comment, what do you think a guy like Braun and Fielder are going to command when their Rookie Contracts are up????  Another rookie contract?  Be logical here my friend.

by BobbyBrewer on Sep 12, 2007 8:11 AM CDT up reply actions

Fortunately
We won't have to worry about that for several years. Hooray for arbitration!

by drezdn on Sep 12, 2007 8:15 AM CDT up reply actions

and no, I don't think
you need to wait for Fielder & Braun to win a Series/Gold Glove to say that "right now" they are better.  You can just say it...try it; it's fun.  It also happens to be true....which kind of gives it that extra "ooomph."

That's be like saying "right now" the brewers are worse off at SS than the Cards b/c Eckstein won a ring....

How's about: When DLee hits 44 HR's in a season and ARam wins the rookie of the year award, the Cubs can say they are better at 1st & 3rd!

If A-Rod hits A-Bombs, does Fielder hit F-Bombs? It's dumb I know....

by Adam P on Sep 12, 2007 9:01 AM CDT up reply actions

Well said AP
You hit the nail directly on the head there.

by Zel123 on Sep 12, 2007 9:35 AM CDT up reply actions

You missed my point...
I was not trying to say they are 'better'.  You are looking at just the offensive categories.  Defensively, Ramirez and Lee are far better that Braun and Fielder (sad, but true).

Other than HRs they are pretty comparable offensively.  I was just saying defensively our guys need to improve.

by BobbyBrewer on Sep 12, 2007 9:48 AM CDT up reply actions

I would say Lee is much better than prince but...
Braun and A-Ram are about the same.  Both players are pretty good with the glove, but they both have a problem with their throwing accuracy. The only difference is that D-Lee saves all of ramirez' errors so his stats look better.

Prince has a hard time scooping balls, as evidenced lately when Rickie throws him the ball. So Braun accumulates more errors because of that.  Also, when you know you have a good firstbasemen, you throw with less fear. A-Ram has this luxury, Braun doesn't.

by Zel123 on Sep 12, 2007 9:59 AM CDT up reply actions

I see your point...
I was not factoring in throwing errors being negated by the first basemen.

by BobbyBrewer on Sep 12, 2007 10:03 AM CDT up reply actions

Additionally
Ramirez is an experienced player.  Braun has steadily improved at third as he's played more, no reason to expect he won't surpass Ramirez's fielding in a few years.  Another guy wasn't a very good fielder his first season: Albert Pujols.

Is it just me
or does it seem that Soriano cannot handle clutch situtations? Seems like everytime i see him in an important situation he rarely comes through.  One exception i can think of is that game versus the rockies where the rockies came back in the top of the ninth and the cubs won in the bottom.
