Who is this about?

If you read the BTB Awards (answer given in link, so don't spoil it for yourself until after) over at Beyond the Box Score, kudos to you. If not, try and figure out who this passage is about:

For whatever reason ________ falls in love with crappy veterans...and for whatever reason XXXXXXX allows him to indulge in his weird little fantasies rather than build the idiot-proof bullpen we thought we had before. It's a dangerous combination, and God only knows how much it's already cost us.

________ doesn't know anything about groundball/flyball profiles, he doesn't know anything about platoon splits, he doesn't know anything about when to yank certain pitchers, and he doesn't know anything about how to run a Major League bullpen. The sabermetric principle that field managers have little impact on a team's final record falls short here, because ________ occupies his own little world of stupid, and with more than XX years' dugout experience under his belt, it's hard to see him evolving in the role. ________: major tool. That the XXXXXXXX are somehow still in playoff contention is nothing short of a Christmas miracle.

Alright, I X'd out some things I thought would give it away, or at least narrow it down too much. Have fun.

[editor's note, by TheJay] Hyatt got it in the comments: John McLaren of the Mariners.

I'm going to go with
the manager of the Mariners, since they are falling out of contention and I read just about everything derogatory towards Ned... whats his name... John McLaren
Ryan Braun is the Ed Hochuli of Third Basemen

Thanks
It's not much of a shock to see that coming from someone when Jose Vidro is getting a lot of ABs
Ryan Braun is the Ed Hochuli of Third Basemen

I also guess the Mariners
though my guess might be influienced by the fact that I clicked on the link first.

So, any Recondite Baseball t-shirts?  :)

"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"

Not yet
My design skills are minimal, anyway.

I'd say
That passage could be said about 90% of the managers in Major League Baseball.  I would've guessed Lou Piniella for this particular entry, though.

Ode to spring.

I like the snow as much as anybody who likes snow. I even don't dread shoveling. Still, I find myself anxious for spring.

Why?

I can't wait to play hookey from work or school and make it to a game at Miller Park. I want to have the money I save now go to a goal other than just tuition and bills. I want to sit behind home plate and watch Brauny hit a monstrous homer.

And that, my friends, is all I want for Christmas - spring.
