Jake Taylor likely to retire

Stay connected for news and updates

Per the JS Blogs:

...Miller has not signed with another team and said he is leaning toward retirement at this point.

Miller, 38, wants to stay close to home to be with his family more and turned down offers from teams far away. He hoped the Brewers would invite him back for 2008 but the club signed free agent Jason Kendall to be the No. 1 catcher and will let Eric Munson, Mike Rivera and Vinny Rottino battle for the backup job.

I have a hard time seeing Munson or Rivera outplaying Miller in those precious few backup catcher ABs.  Just the same, he doesn't have much upside, either, and I wouldn't mind seeing Rottino make the club.  Hopefully, there's a coaching job with Miller's name on it somewhere in the Brewers organization.
