Johnny Estrada is a National Treasure

He's a National, anyway.

If you wondered just how far Johnny's stock has fallen, he's now Paul LoDuca insurance in Washington for a grand total of $1.25 million.

I suppose that Estrada hunted for the best shot at playing time, and with LoDuca recovering from injury, the Nationals gave him that.  But despite all of our dislike for Estrada and the fact that players generally don't sign cheaper deals with the teams that non-tender them, I have to think that Estrada would be worth $1MM more than, say, Eric Munson.  Especially if he could get that OBP back over .300.

What amazes me
Is that if he was such a cancer in the Brewers club house we never heard about it in our local media?

I think I follow the team very well I do not remember reading about problems

Hell if the Mets TV crew does not catch the dug out fight on camera I doubt we would have ever heard about it.

I guess what I am saying in a long winded way is if he was such an ass the Brewers management would rather have Rivera or Munson as the back up to Kendal why didn't we hear about it?

Its all about the Bullpen this season that is the key.

My Theory
It seems that with the Brewers at least, they won't talk about "in team" problems. After the dugout fight, everyone made jokes about it instead of actually saying what happened.

Tom H
is all over it.  It looks like LoDuca will miss at least month, so Jamie will have that much time to get to a Nationals home game with his beloved Estrada jersey.

The best line from the JS Blog report:

The Brewers didn't think Estrada made up for his disappointing season with intangibles and chose to sign veteran free agent Jason Kendall...

(...who presumably will make up for his disappointing season with intangibles.)

"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"

Estrada
Just like that, he's again in the top 5 switch-hitting catchers of the National League!

I'm just glad...
I won't have to watch him "run" the bases 120 times next year.

Wow
There are some crappy catchers in the league right now.

No worries.
As Brad Ausmus loses more and more playing time, the quality of catchers will go up automatically.

wwwwwww
Johnny Estrada was a good catcher, for the Braves. If he's kept himself in shape, he'll be an asset to Washington.

Personally,
I believe Jason Kendall is going to be huge for the brewers. I think he will rejuvenate Capuano and to some extent Dave Bush. All one has to do is look at Dan Haren's numbers last year before and after Kendall's departure. Even Barry Zito talked about how good he was for his game and when he left for San Fran, his pitching became mediocre.

As for his hitting, if he can find any way to get on base consistently, he will be a plus for this lineup. He does not have to hit for any power, and if he can even come close to his .367 OBP from 2006, he will be perfect for this lineup.

Kendall with the Cubs
Has anyone run the numbers for Cubs Pitchers when Kendall was catching vs. Barrett?

Or wouldn't he have been as successful because of coming in during the season?

I don't know
I doubt you could tell much from half a season - maybe his acquisition dovetailed with the team getting hot and it wasn't because of him. Carlos Zambrano didn't try to attack him, though, so I guess that says something positive for Kendall over Barrett.

Amazing
that so many have gravitated to the same lineup from so many different starting points...and how quickly we agree on the type of coach the Bulls need, if not the specific individual.

Huh???
Multiple windows/tabs open?

I think the Bulls need to bring Horace Grant back.  He was the best player in the original NBA Jam for SNES!

the same game
in which Brad Lohaus and Blue Edwards were an unstoppable force?  It might lose some credibility!
