So
will rickie start tomorrow? I’m thinking not, even if the pitching match up says he shouild.

Probably not given today's issues
I foresee C.C. in there
"Brett Favre looks like a man in a parking lot playing with boys." - John Madden
"Pujols just unloaded." - Bob Uecker
Probably
He could have just as well caught Hall’s throw and botched Rollins’ hard hit ball at him in the first.

and Braun's HR count

Ugh
As well as Cole Hamels pitched, we could’ve won that. Gotta get ’em tomorrow.
Rickie is to defense as Ryan Leaf is to football.
Still, nobody could touch Hamel’s change today. It was pretty filthy. Same can be said of really the entire game’s pitching performance. Gotta love Yo battling it out there, matched Hamels for awhile, but just got to set a standard that defense really matters here.
But for all we know, back at square one after 2 games anyways. *cough*go dodgers*cough*
A few positives
Dissapointing loss but there were a couple positives to walk way with;
1)The Bullpen looked solid, and Sveum looks like he has a good handle on how to use them.
2)They actually showed patience up against Lidge.

Bright side
- Gallardo threw a pretty good game.
- We had the tying run in scoring position with 1 out in the 9th.
- Bullpen looked good.

Apparently...
Sweet Lou wants to play long and hard
Oooo baby

Yeah, but his beer belly will keep people far enough away that it isn't quite as bad
Still, he’s too argumentative… not to mention old & gross :-P

It's not the size of the wallet
It’s the presence of the presents

I am actually amazed at how up beat I am for game 2
the goal was win one in Philly and I really believe they can do that
Also I will be ok with Yo as the number one next year if that is what we end up with
If Loving CC is wrong I do not want to be right
I think we all trust the Sabathia can handle himself in Philly
With only two loses for us, I doubt he’ll rack up another

in the end it comes down to the bats
The whole last month the bats have been the problem
They get CC 4 runs I like our chances

Corey Hart
As late as August 18th, Corey was hitting .290 with an .830 OPS.
Since then, he’s gone 28 for 135, a .207 average, with one home run, and his OPS has dropped 70 points. (Curiously, he’s had but 4 walks in that span.) In September alone, he’s had all of 6 extra-base hits in 98 ABs.
The thing is, his recent history has shown something of a strong finisher: last season, his OPS jumped 60 points over the last 6 weeks of the season; the year before, it jumped by more than 100 points.
Even though he had a hit today, he’s really not contributing to the lineup. Maybe it’s time to consider a different rightfielder for a game or two.

at mid season I was all for locking Cory up like Braun
(not for as much money of course)
But right now I do not know I am thinking just do what they need to for another year(arby or an offer etc) and see if he can right the ship next season.
Do you play TGr or Nelson in his place if Kappler was healthy he would be playing is my guess
If Loving CC is wrong I do not want to be right
I'd still do it
He can’t have totally forgotten how to hit, and right now you might be able to sign him for a lot less than what he’s worth.
Having said that…and after acknowledging that Dale should have done this in the regular season…I think you can make an argument for starting (sigh) TG Jr, with Durham batting second. You get better defense, and even TG can match Hart’s production right now.

he's going to be a whole lot cheaper
I think he got tired with all the travel and hoopla surrounding the all star game, but it seems like he should be bouncing back. He did put some balls in play today as sad as that is to take as a plus.
any chance that Corey is nursing an injury?
Braun blamed an injury for his September slump… this stuff always comes out after players go on hot streaks, and you wonder how credible it is. (Players generally don’t know why their stinking the joint up.) Still, it got me wondering

On Sunday
I was watching the game on WGN and Brenley was describing how scouts had discovered Hart’s weakness: He can neither hit, nor lay off, the low slider.
Sure enough, that at-bat he saw three straight low sliders and struck out swinging.
Surely this can’t be new? Maybe people didn’t try it before because Hart has only recently (during the last season plus) gained regular playing time. It just seems odd that something as apparently simple as that should be a tripping point for an entire half season.
Another data point, I guess.
It's called "playing the percentages."
This is awful
Losing a game is one thing, but losing a game you should have won just sucks.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
Wow, Loney just hit a grand slam off Dempster
jeff: but i shudder to think of the bullpen analogy to sending the runner
that was impressive
the Cubs better hope that the “good” Big Z shows up tomorrow!
September 15: Not a bad little Monday
feeling a little better
to see that the Cubs are getting smoked… knock on wood, or Wood.
There's a civil war going on in the fanposts over at the "other" BCB.
We may be down 1-0, but at least we’re not Cubs fans.
I have an unreasonable dislike of Bill Hall.

Cub Fan on Cub Fan violence nothing better in the world
Every loss is like Iceberg day on the Titanic but without the brave and cool band to play on
If Loving CC is wrong I do not want to be right
The way they acted all season it would nice to see them go down in the NLDS
Message to Cubs Fans “Win some thing then you get to act like jerks” lol
CC and the bats will get it done tomorrow you just know the CC train is not done rolling

Sounds kinda like what Cardinals fans (and that one columnist) said about the Brewers untucking their shirts in STL.

no it goes back to Cubs fans acting like they have 27 world series titles
plus there is a big difference between untucking your shirt and acting like a Cub fan lol

I know
I have checked this site about 15 times this morning… I am sick of seeing Bill Hall’s picture
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
Would a different picture of Bill Hall do the trick?

Obscure baseball records and more at my blog, Recondite Baseball.
At the very least a picture that gives us good vibes about our Bill Hall, like when he hit walk-offs with a pink bat

The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
That was a special moment
thanks for the memory :)
