ALCS Game 2 Open Thread

Josh Beckett vs. Scott Kazmir.  It's captain postseason against the guy who was almost worth Victor Zambrano.

Game time is 7:07 CT.

Go Rays!

I was going to ask how a little guy the size of Dusty Pedroia keeps hitting all those homers, then I remember that 50 years ago a lot of the players were the size of Pedroia. The question is how does he do it in today’s sport—and be as good at defense as he is, too.

six HRs so far I think

I can’t get out of my head that Tim and Sparky on 1250 am say that HR hitting teams don’t do well in the playoffs.

is that really Terry Francona managing the Sox?

If he says something like “Beckett was only two outs away” he’s been replaced by He Who Must Not Be Named (muggle division)

exciting game… but speaking of the idiotic X number of outs away or X bad pitches, I was really disappointed to hear Sveum use that line to defend Suppan and himself I suppose.

At least Sveum only used that line once. Then again, he only had to use it once.

Ode to spring.

I like the snow as much as anybody who likes snow. I even don't dread shoveling. Still, I find myself anxious for spring.

Why?

I can't wait to play hookey from work or school and make it to a game at Miller Park. I want to have the money I save now go to a goal other than just tuition and bills. I want to sit behind home plate and watch Brauny hit a monstrous homer.

And that, my friends, is all I want for Christmas - spring.
