In Arizona: David Welch gave up one run on one hit in 1.1 innings for his second hold as the Javelinas defeated the Saguaros, 4-2.
The two teams meet again, with the Javelinas as the home team this time, at 2:35 today.
In Hawai'i: The CaneFires were off yesterday. They play Waikiki at 8 tonight.
In Venezuela: Brewers in action from Sunday's games:

- Alcides Escobar went 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and scored twice for Lara.
- Jay Gibbons went 0-for-3 and is now 1-for-21 on the season for Magallanes.
- Hernan Iribarren went 2-for-4 with a double and a walk and scored twice for Lara.
- Brendan Katin went 0-for-3, but walked and scored a run. He's hitless in his last 4 games for Zulia.
- Joe Bateman picked up his second win in as many outings, pitching a scoreless 1.1 innings with one hit and two K's for Este.
- Rafael Lluberes faced one batter for Cibao, and walked him. Lluberes has now faced 6 batters and allowed 4 to reach.

whither Hernan Iribarren
He seemed like a rather bright prospect at 2nd for a while. Now he’s an outfielder. I wonder if he ever plays 2nd or that idea has been abandoned.
they're just trying to increase his versatility
A 2b/of could be a cheap utility guy on a roster. I think he’s pretty solid at second on defense.
And neck size to baby eating ratio.
