Wes Helms: The Marlins and Brewers Thank You
"Marlins agreed to terms with infielder Wes Helms on a two-year, $1.8 million contract through 2010."
No truth to the rumors that Attanasio kicked in $500k of that to make sure Helms would keep facing the Phillies and Mets late in the season.

Nice
They paid him $750k to buy out his current contract’s club option and he gets almost a million each of the next two seasons? Must be nice to be Wes underwHelms.

is that cited somewhere?
I would guess that the deal is structured as an extension, so they’re not paying the buyout as well.
Also, cheese.

No, I just figured they'd have to pay the buyout
I’m sure you’re right.

Wes!
In 25 years when they commemorate the 2008 playoff team I think Wes should be allowed to attend the ceremony. Hopefully Brewers owner CC Sabathia (bought the team with the money he received from the Yanks), GM Mike Rivera (recognizes the talent sitting unused on other teams’ benches) and Manager Paul Molitor (humor me) agree with me.
