How impressed should we be by Sveum's reminding the umps of the interference rule?

Realistically, it didn’t have all that much impact since there were 2 out anyway and it took the 2nd run off the board and moved the 3rd run back to second base when the only run that really mattered was the guy standing at the plate anyway. But it was still pretty cool that he seemed to be the only guy on the field who remembered the rule…

I have an unreasonable dislike of Bill Hall.

I was thinking the same thing.

The runners’ positions didn’t matter too much, but mentally it gave the crew (Torres) a boost. It just feels different to be up by 3 than to be up 2

by friendo on Oct 5, 2008 12:00 AM CDT up reply actions

even though it was meaningless to the final result

in a psychology-neutral environment, it did one thing

It was a demonstration by Sveum that he believes he’s ready to be a full-time manager for a major league team next year.

THAT was his resume.

That being said, I don’t think the brewers should take him unless they can find no one more SABRE-oriented.

Gagne

Another nice outing. I really liked his fielding of that bunt. Pretty sweet play.

And at least Corey Hart didn’t totally blow today. If he could come out of his slump, that would be huge.

Any word on the Weeks injury?

Rich Harden hasn't been above 90 much tonight

Cub fans (the knowledgable kind) were saying that he admitted to dialing it back to stay healthy, but this isn’t the time to dial it back now. He must not be 100%.

On the other hand, Jamie Moyer threw some fastballs in the 70s today. :)

brewers also won

because I did 10 jumping jacks for every run in the game (team neutral)
I was prepared to do 10 pushups for every brewer homerun and 10 situps for every phillies homerun. Note that homeruns generate multiple runs too.
I also did 10 pushups to celebrate the Brewers victory.
I know, not exactly a workout, but it got things done.

One word of warning if you care to join me – when I did my jumping jacks, that killed whatever rally was going on. So, wait until the end of the inning if the Brewers score, but do them immediately if the Phillies score.

So my little story.

So I get into the game around 5:10 or so, to catch the pregame stuff. I settle in, fill out my score card (yes I’m a nerd). Some old chicks (late 40s – 60) show up. A few minutes later, I turn around and low and behold.

Yes, that’s Tom Hardicourt.

His wife ended up sitting behind me. She had no idea where he sat at the stadium. He seemed nice enough, but he had that “old school” media vibe. Like I don’t think he understands the concept of these internet tubes things.

Wrigley Field in the post season

I wonder if the reason why the Cubs do so badly at Wrigley in the post season is because of the weather. The players get used to the ball acting a certain way at Wrigley during the summer, pitching and hitting accordingly and then the temp just drops and I’d imagine the ball’s movement would change.

The other team isn’t as used to the stadium, so they can adopt easier. Just a theory.

Probably easy to talk trash right now for Brewers fans

I guess we’ll see how Milwaukee fares this week. Great man, you are.

Yup, it's really easy to talk trash

On my own blog.

When my team’s biggest rivals just got swept out of the postseason, a postseason they’ve been hyped to dominate for several months.

On my own blog.

I’m not baiting you. You came here. You’re welcome to leave.

Just so you know who you were dealing with in the above conversation...

This moron at one point last night advocated cutting or trading Marmol to Milwaukee and signing Eric Gagne for the 2009 season. He also advocated cutting or trading Soriano and Ramirez after calling Ramirez a “hippy”, and for good measure, he referred to Kansas as an “abomination of a state.”

I have an unreasonable dislike of Bill Hall.

Go figure, a team is above league average in offensive numbers for a game they won.

What a night...

The Brewers stay alive, the Cubs go home. I hate the Cubs with a passion reserved for drivers in the left lane of the interstate going 65. That being said, I do feel for the Cubs fans. I mean, they feel absolutely awful right now. I bet just one week ago they were dreaming of finally, finally being able to feel like what it would be like to win, just like you and me were about the Brewers. I mean, beyond my sheer, irrational hatred of the “Wrigley North” signs, the odd loser’s arrogance, and the fact that they’re citizens Illinois, I feel for them on a human level. So any Cubs fans out there checking out the blog, buck up. The sun will rise tomorrow. I know it feels like someone just broke up with you, but at least you have a team just north of you to send some positive thoughts to. You had a heckuva season, and, you know, you’ve got a competative team for next year. Can’t wait to see who gets the upper hand next year.

"I think this decision could go either way," Baseball Tonight legal analyst John Kruk said.

As a Brewer fan in Chicago...

I watched both games at a bar, and the Cubs fans were just brutal. Never once did they seem to get behind them. Every time Soriano, or Fukudome got up, it was straight to, “he sucks”, or “I wish he weren’t batting”. After a few innings everyone turned so negavtive. For anyone going to the game tomorrow, get behind this Brewer team as if it is the last time they are playing. I want to see them play more baseball.

What row /seat? Perhaps I gave you a high five and didn’t know it!

well, seeing as he was the one that ended up with the ball...

did you hi-five someone that got the ball. If so, you two touched.

In a manly, non-kinky sort of way of course.
