Game Thread #166: Phillies (2-1) at Brewers (1-2)

Philadelphia Phillies @ Milwaukee Brewers

Hey, if nothing else, we outlasted the Cubs, right?

But we can do better!  We can push the series back to Philly, find out if CC has anything left in the tank, and--most importantly of all--make me considerably poorer in my effort to see every possible postseason game.  (Yeah!)

The pitching matchup this afternoon is Jeff Suppan vs. Joe Blanton.  It raises the question: If good pitching beats good hitting, what happens today?  I'm choosing to have faith in Supp's postseason mojo but, having said that, I'm also choosing to believe that Cameron is bringing his running shoes.

Game time is 12:07 CT, and here's the BR Game Preview.

I still really mean it: GO BREWERS!

In case people haven't gone through the Frosty Mug

Weeks is off the roster:

Ash said Weeks will need surgery to repair the flap tear of cartilage in the knee, so he’s probably out for the rest of the post-season anyway.

Alcides Escobar replaces him. Supposedly he was picked over Joe Dillon because of his versatility which seems strange, but whatever.

No matter what ol Pete tries to sell me it was a horrible signing any way you slice it.

Simply put, no one deserves $10.5 million/year to win 10 games and have a 5.00 era and terrible WHIP.

That said, F Sheets too, ha.

Sorry

I didn’t realize you were so sensitive to player criticism.

1. I dont hate Melvin but Suppan siging was bad.
2. Ive defended Sheets so much over the past 4 years but him missing the postseason was the last straw.
3. Hart deserves a SEVERE beating
4. Hardy had a terrible series vs the Cubs and I called him out for it.

Are you retarded?

Did you not read when I posted “I called him out for a bad Cubs series?”

by TimQMills on Oct 5, 2008 2:15 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

PS

There are so many people bitching about Suppan I assume you have gone through 5 boxes of Kleenex crying about it.

by TimQMills on Oct 5, 2008 2:15 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

you really are retarded - go try and find me defending Suppan

Try and find me being a Melvin fanboy.

You won’t. Of course I don’t post endlessly about the players I don’t like or have a tantrum whenever they perform poorly.

by ol Pete on Oct 5, 2008 2:17 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Sorry

I know you cant handle it emotoinally when I pick on a player for having a TERRIBLE series.

I will forever give every single player in MLB a free pass for bad play. Especially when the playoffs are on the line.

I am really, really sorry.

Corey Hart is my hero, by the way.

by TimQMills on Oct 5, 2008 2:19 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

yeah there is nothing between those two extremes

but don’t ignore my post with more petulance. Go ahead and lets hear about my Suppan and Melvin love.

by ol Pete on Oct 5, 2008 2:21 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Sorry man

I hurt your feelings by picking on Hardy during the Cubs series.

You’ll be fine.

by TimQMills on Oct 5, 2008 2:24 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

don't run away

let’s have something to back up the bullshit. Where are all the posts I made to support Suppan and Melvin. There is a search engine.

And then you can stalk Corey Hart and smash his face. Wasn’t that what you said you were going to do?

by ol Pete on Oct 5, 2008 2:26 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Interesting

But i have never said you defend those guys. I only say you seem to attack ME and no one else who calls them out,

Read through all the posts. There are plenty of people calling Suppan a jerk. Yet you only get mad when I say something.

So I am sorry you cant handle MY comments.

And yes, I am going to slap Hart if I ever see him, hopefully when he is having dinner.

by TimQMills on Oct 5, 2008 2:32 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

you're full of shit

so how did you do with your search? Nothing, so you change the story. Your dizzy little claim that I only complain about your Suppan comments is nonsense.

And slapping someone isn’t smashing their face. You wouldn’t do either one if he was standing next to you of course.

In that game he was invovled in a 1-4 bunt out and caught a pop up while playing 2nd

In his career at third, he had 1 putout, 2 assists, and an error (.750 FP) in 9 2/3 innings over seven games.

In his career at second he had a putout and an assist with no errors in two games.

His error at third (in the top of the ninth inning here) came immediately after the Blue Jays’ catcher made an error on a foul ball. Doug DeCinces had a charmed at bat.

I wasn't a Husker fan then

In 1994, as a Badgers fan, I was on your side of that one. I feel like Penn State should at least be able to claim that year as a co-national championship.
