NLCS Game 1 Open Thread

It's Cole Hamels vs. Derek Lowe.

I'm torn about this one.  Do we root for the Dodgers, the team that knocked off the Cubs?  The Phillies, who don't have Manny?  The Phillies, because if they win the World Series, we can jokingly claim to have been the second-best team in the postseason?

Eh...I'm rooting for the Rays.

Game time is 7:22 CT.

How weird is it?

That if in the World Series its Red Sox vs Dodgers that Manny Ramirez will probably get a WS ring no matter the outcome.

That is why I am rooting for a Rays/Phillies WS

Traditionally every player who played for a team throughout the season gets a ring. For example if the the brewers would have won this year even Derrick Turnbow would have received a ring

I'm rooting against Lowe

If we don’t re-sign CC, he might be (gulp) our de facto #1 starter next season. I’d rather not see him pull a Suppan and cost us more money than he’s going to get already.

i like that..

i couldnt figure out how to tie in the best interests for the brewers in this one…

i am rooting for my second fav and for the time-being hometown team; the dodgers. i must have gone to about 30 games this season. was interesting to see how the crowds got into it when they got manny; all that media coverage is not joke; it was a different atmosphere.

seriously?

I haven’t heard Lowe’s name mentioned as a possibility to sign here.

YoGanna win with Gallardo on the mound.

Of course!

When Gagne leaves, who will be our overpriced ex-Dodger pitcher? Fernando Valenzuela?

I'm not a huge fan of either team

But since the Dodgers are clearly the better team right now, I’m going to take the easy way out and root for them. Plus, hopefully if the Phillies lose I won’t have to endure yet another year of a questionably-deserving Phillies NL MVP.

Ryan Braun: He loves it.

I’m rooting for the Rays too, if for no other reason than I have a rather substantial collection of pre-2001 Rays jerseys (they’re way cheaper on eBay than Brewers jerseys).

The NLCS is a no-win scenario for a person who loathes the sports media’s fascination with the east coast like myself – you have a true east coast team (Phillies) versus a team that might as well be because it’s helmed by Torre and led by Manny.

I know nothing about Blake DeWitt

I take it he has good defense.

Howard clanks one

Prince could have gotten that – or maybe not

Go Dodgers

I hope they beat the Rays in the World Series so we can read columns all about how those VORPies can’t stand Ned Colletti’s GM style even though he obviously knows how to build a winner. Plus, the statheads’ pet team came up short! If they ever came out of their basements, they’d know how to build a true winning baseball team, etc.

weird thing about Joe Torre

He actually answers questions.

and now Pat the Bat – just remember, the guys on 1250 say being a home run hitting team is a bad thing in the playoffs

I can't stand it

I wasn’t going to comment on Timmy McC, but this is ridiculous. He has said 2 times now that Ryan Madson has the best changeup on the Phillies staff. That is serious levels of mental retardation.

And neck size to baby eating ratio.

Tim McC is why i am ok with not being able to watch the NLCS. Stupid FOX and stupid time warner
