Cubs acquire Kevin Gregg from the Marlins for prospect Jose Ceda
Yankees acquire Nick Swisher and a minor league pitcher from the White Sox for Wilson Betemit and two minor league pitchers.

Ohhhh

I was just listening to Men at Work, and in Down Under, there’s a line that says “He just smiled and gave me a Betemit sandwich.”

Since Wilson Betemit was traded with two pitchers, that now…makes..sen…

oh, never mind.

I took a bite of an actual Vegemite sandwich on a trip to New Zealand in 2002.

But just one bite. Yeah it’s nasty. The local who offered it to me said the only people who really eat the stuff are the ones who grew up on it and developed a taste for it over time.

I have an unreasonable dislike of Bill Hall.

It’s funny, I was talking yesterday with my roommate about both of these players. I would’ve liked Gregg, not for a Ceda-level prospect though. I would’ve really liked swisher, as I see his last year as mostly a product of bad luck, but I don’t know where he’d have played. Either way, he was basically given away…

If I remember right, Abreu is a free agent and Swisher is much better at the corner outfield spots than center field. It probably lowers any urgency they had towards getting Cam, though.

Swisher is bad in CF, I can’t see the Yankees using him there in anything other than an emergency.

I wonder if this means they are backing off Teixiera?
