Brewers sign Scott Thorman to Minor League Deal
Thorman was given a chance to become the Braves' starting first baseman in 2007 and flopped, hitting .216/.258/.394 in 307 plate appearances. He didn't do much better in AAA this past season. Thorman is the sixth non-roster player to be invited to spring training with the Crew.

For some reason I associate this individual with a Yosting

After reading the article I remember now
That was the infamous game in which Ned bunted Craig Counsell with runners on first and third with 1 out up 1 in the 10th inning verses a lefty. Craig struck out bunting on three straight pitches, Mench was on the bench. Then Cordero blew a save by giving up a jack to Thorman.

Talking to myself
This is weird, unless they either think Nelson will be on the 25-man or they aren’t going to re-sign him. They’re pretty much the same thing, and I think Nelson is better unless Thorman is good at defense.

More like AAA filler
In case the top five options at first base go down at the same time.

Yeah, I know.
I just wish they’d do something soon about the starting pitching situation. I’m not very excited about what there is currently.

AAA filler?
I’ve been wondering who’s gonna play 1B at Nashville if Nelson makes The Show. Brendan Katin? Seriously, who are the “top five options” you mention? The rest of their infield might make the AAA all-star team (Gamel, Escobar, Hurricane Hernan or the Crabbe-man at 2B).

Hm?
I meant that Thorman wouldn’t be in the majors unless something catastrophic happens to pretty much everyone on the 40-man roster that can play first base. He’ll probably start in Nashville.
