Around SBN: Cal RB Jahvid Best Seriously Injured, Carted Off Field

The Yankees and Brewers continue to haggle over how much of the $12 million due to Kei Igawa for the next three seasons the Yankees will swallow in order to complete the swap of Mike Cameron for Melky Cabrera.

The Brewers are moving Cameron and his $10 million salary in order to restock their pitching staff that lost Sabathia and likely will lose Ben Sheets. So, the Brewers don't want to pay Igawa $4 million of the $10 million they are saving by dealing Cameron.

Because the Yankees have told the Brewers they cannot have any of pitchers on their 40-man roster, Igawa is the best the Brewers can do.

Brewers asked for Phil Coke, Jose Veras and Mark Melancon and quickly were told no.

Each side expects the deal to get done eventually.

that's weak

That we couldn’t even get one of Veras, Melancon, or Coke. With Veras being around 30, you’d think the Yanks would be reasonable with their asking price for him.

IGAWA AND CABRERA, SWEET!!!

this would annoy me big time if this was true. do the yanks understand that they have to give something up to get something good? better yet does the brewers organization kno this..uget ur man, or u pull out.

Why?

Melvin is obviously okay with the Yankees players offered if all that’s left is haggling over financial details.

I feel like Ralphie in The Christmas Story. Hopefully moustache will stand up to the yanks like ralphie did to his bully

I like this one

The caption should read “What you talking about Willis?”

So Igawa's minor league numbers aren't so bad

3.47 ERA 1.19 WHIP 194Ks to 63 BBs. If the yanks eat most of the salary, Igawa could be worth the chance.

His japanese numbers aren't to shabby either

When I was looking at them earlier he had something like 4 out of 5 years with inning totals over 200 (the outlier was in the 170s) before he came across the big pond.

Congrats 08 Crew on a fine Wild Card achievement! What do you say we keep the next postseason drought to something a little shorter than a quarter of a Century.
