Pie Fight!

I hate not having a rumor to talk about. It's like when Russell Branyan hits a ball that stays in the park --- it's just not right.

So, hitting up the Conjecture Cul-de-sac once more...what do people think about Felix Pie? He's out of options, and according to the Chicago Sun Times, he was a long shot to make the Cubs even before they acquired Gathright. His stats, such as they are, are here, but be sure to check out his minor league numbers too (which, admittedly, are PCL-boosted).

I'd like to think he has more of a future, at least, than TG Jr. Plus, it sounds like he wasn't handled well by Sweet Lou in Chicago.

Speaking of conjecture...you know what team needs a centerfielder? The Padres, who haven't had one since...well, Mike Cameron. Pie was in the mix when the Cubs were talking about a Jake Peavy trade. Wouldn't it be funny if we were able to somehow manage a trade involving Peavy and Cameron ourselves? We need a top pitcher, right?

Wow!

So his OPS drops 150 points from the PCL to the major league equivalent! That’s sub-Gwynn!

Can it be the Cubs are right about him being overrated? I hate to think they’re right about something.

Judging by his minor league stats

Pie would be Key Lime

However, his major league stats make him a pumpkin

Also, he’s 22, tons of time to grow into a decent player. I think he’d be more than worth the risk.
