Greg Maddux Retires
While his brother Mike was here there always seemed to be some speculation that Greg would be interested in and/or acquired by Milwaukee. Maddux retires with a career record of 355-227, 3371 strikeouts, and 999 walks in 5008 1/3 innings pitched. He won 18 Gold Gloves and 4 Cy Young awards in his career. He finished 8th in career wins, 4th in career starts, 10th in career strikeouts, and 13th in career innings pitched.

awesome pitcher
who at a time when everything seemed to be flying out of the park posted back to back seasons with ERA’s under 2. An ERA+ of 132 for his career, just unbelievable especially considering the way he did it. Though, maybe he had some help :)
I untuck my shirt!
HOF
on ESPN they were talking about how the allegations against Clemens could make historians consider Maddux the dominant pitcher of the steroid era. They also were guessing what percentage of writers would vote for him on the HOF ballot.
September 15: Not a bad little Monday
Maddux is a tiny bit better than Clemens
regardless of PEDs.

What a bummer. He was the best I ever saw.
