Rumorville: Bobby Jenks
If you believe the WhiteSox Interactive fanboards --- and why wouldn't you? --- USA Today's Paul White on XML Radio says the Brewers and Pale Hosers are in "heavy talks" about reliever Bobby Jenks. No word on whom we'd trade for him.
Jenks's stats are here. His ERA from 2008 was a career low. His K/9 rate is way down from 2005 and 2006, but then again, his WHIP is way down too. If an announcer were here, this is where he'd say that Jenks had learned the value of not trying to strike everybody out and become a pitcher, and I'd have changed the channel.

I would have punched said announcer in the face
If he can be had for a replaceable major leaguer or decent prospect, I’d be fine with it, but I wouldn’t give up much of value. You can get a much better deal by finding a reliever with the same numbers that hasn’t been a closer yet.
And neck size to baby eating ratio.
That's especially true this year, isn't it?
Trading for a closer would make a bit more sense of the rest of the pen was set and the rotation was ok as is, but if any year calls for a cobbled together, Doug Melvinesque pen with a closer coming out of nowhere, it’s 2009.
I have an unreasonable dislike of Bill Hall.

That’s entirely acceptable for me and, I fear, entirely unacceptable for the Sox.

yeah, I'm pretty sure it's way too awesome
Hall’s bad contract isn’t really helping things here.
