Rumorville: JJ Putz
The Seattle Times is speculating that the Brewers and Tigers are the strongest suitors for the services of closer JJ Putz, moreso than the Mets, Cardinals, or Orioles.
Here's the relevant quote:
The Brewers, as we've mentioned before. desperately need starting and bullpen help and would be interested in a Putz deal. But that could come, I'm told, as part of a larger package. The Brewers have a ton of bats (literally) that could be moved in first baseman Prince Fielder, shortstop J.J. Hardy, Class AAA third baseman Mat Gamel, minor league shortstop Alcides Escobar and outfield prospects Lorenzo Cain and Cole Gillespie.
But as I said, that looks like it would be all part of a larger, multiple-player deal. The Brewers like many of Seattle's starting pitchers as well, with Brandon Morrow topping the list. Anyhow, right now, it's all just a concept. But it's one worth keeping an eye on.
Landing Putz would give us 2 of the 3 players named "J.J." in all of baseball. That ought to be worth something.

I don't want the third JJ.
I’m assuming this is who you’re referring to.

The third JJ

"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
Anyway, I would be interested to see a trade for SP and Putz.
However, the only player above (other than Cain and Gillespie) that I wouldn’t mind trading is Prince. And for us to trade him, I think we’d have to net a much bigger gain than just those two.
If we could trade Cain and Gillespie and/or another minor leaguer not named Gamel, Jeffress, or Escobar, I’d be all for it.

Confusion from MLB Trade Rumors
Says Steve Phillips:
The Mariners need a power hitter. The Tigers need a closer. There is speculation that the two teams are discussing a package involving Putz and Prince Fielder.
This would be a neat trick, considering Fielder does not play for the Tigers.
If we’re sending Fielder to the Mariners, I want Beltre, Putz, and Bedard if he’s healthy enough to pitch right now.
And neck size to baby eating ratio.
Ha!
I have an unreasonable dislike of Bill Hall.

However, the Mariners wouldn't
If Jack has a few guys in the Brewer system that he likes and Doug doesn’t, I could see how a bigger trade would work out, though.
And neck size to baby eating ratio.
I'm sure there are guys like that.
Since Jack did all the drafting and Doug pretty much just let him pick whoever he felt like.

Was I the only guy who chuckled at the following:
“would be interested in a putz deal.”
I’m so ashamed.

I find it comical how so many overvalue closers in the media. And I find it sad that Steve Phillips is still employed.
I couldn't believe how many people went crazy when they saw that guy in Milwaukee.
at the Beer Hall. Wait. Yeah I can. They were drunk and he’s on TV.
Think of it as a favor that ESPN is doing for all 30 teams.
As long as Phillips is reporting, or whatever it is that he’s doing, he’s not running a ML team.
Also, cheese.

Only if JB Jeff and his salary is going to Seattle
which I deem highly unlikely.
And neck size to baby eating ratio.
He is from Wisconsin, but as Washburn says himself at the end, he lives a lot closer to Minneapolis than Milwaukee. (His official page on MLB.com says he lives in Danbury, which is on the MN/WI border; it’s about 70 miles or so from St. Paul.)
Bet he's a Viking fan...
… the bastard.

I, too, am from an area closer to Minneapolis than Milwaukee
and that didn’t stop me from becoming a Brewers fan!
(Then again, said area is in Washington state. Heh.)
Also, cheese.
