Help me out: Awards Voting, Week 2

Ok, so this week it's time to vote for NL Awards. As you may know, BCB is one of the voters in BaseballHappenings.com's weekly blogpoll for MVP, Cy Young and Rookie of the Year.

Just like last week, I've got 5 nominees (alphabetically) for each award. You're welcome to go off the board if you want, my nominees are merely a suggestion and a starting point. Please rank your choices 1-3 for each award. Your votes will be combined to form the final BCB ballot. I'll post the voting results and the BCB ballot in Tuesday's Mug.

NL Cy Young:
Cole Hamels, Philadelphia: 2-1, 0.82 ERA, 22 IP, 7 BB, 15 K, 0.82 WHIP
Tim Lincecum, San Fransisco: 1-0, 2.25 ERA, 16 IP, 6 BB, 22 K, 1.44 WHIP
Jake Peavy, San Diego: 3-0, 1.64 ERA, 22 IP, 6 BB, 16 K, 0.91 WHIP
Ben Sheets, Milwaukee: 2-0, 1.17 ERA, 23 IP, 4 BB, 20 K, 0.70 WHIP
Brandon Webb, Arizona: 3-0, 2.14 ERA, 21 IP, 6 BB, 17 K, 0.86 WHIP

And my ballot, to get the voting started:

2. Webb
3. Peavy

Rookie of the Year:
1. Cueto
2. Fukudome
3. Kuroda

MVP:

Voting will remain open until sometime around 5 or 6 tomorrow (Monday) afternoon, when I'll close it so I can tally up the votes and submit the final BCB ballot.

Let the voting begin!

Is there an official cutoff date?

Because people are voting Cueto as if he has only had two starts, but he was not nearly as good in his third. Not to say he can't be #1, but it does add some ambiguity.

Also, cheese.

by Jeff Sackmann on Apr 14, 2008 3:28 PM CDT   0 recs

He was still good

2 Hits, 6 K, 1BB, 2ER through 5 is pretty solid, Dusty Baker just left him in too long into the sixth when he started to struggle a little.

Sheets has better numbers over three, but Cueto was dominant enough in his first start (33% of the season) that I personally think he has the edge, assuming the season ended today.

And good call on the stats for Cueto...I didn't realize I forgot to include yesterday's start.

Jeff Suppan is due to be activated from the DL on Tuesday. What should the Brewers do with the rotation?
  • Insert Suppan and demote Dave Bush to the bullpen.
  • Insert Suppan and demote Son of Clung to the bullpen.
  • Insert Suppan and use Bush and McClung in a home/road platoon.
  • Kick Suppan to the pen and keep Bush and McClung in the rotation.
  • Trade J.J. Hardy for A.J. Burnett and leave the other three guys alone in a room with a sharp stick and the knowledge that there's only one open spot on the team.

Robinade - only 12% juice, but 100% Robin.

I saw it in Pick and Save today, located in the milk cooler area with the other single serve tasty drinks (I apologize for the crappy resolution on my phone's camera... I've dropped it one too many times). I think it was like $1.29, so it's pretty fairly priced and a healthier alternative to the tasty sugar-filled sodas we all know and love.

It's pretty much regular lemonade, but it's definitely good - much better than Minute Maid. My sister says it tastes like Robin's sweat is in it...

How she knows what his sweat tastes like is beyond me...
