Game Thread #14: Brewers (8-5) at Cardinals (10-4)

Your starters: Carlos Villanueva and Adam Wainwright (who, unfortunately, throws the ball with his right hand).

Your lineup: Same as yesterday, except Braun's back in there.  Kapler is still dinged up.

Your preview: baseball-reference has got it, as always.

Your project-a-tron results:

  • Brewers: 4.7
  • Cards: 4.3
  • Brewers WinExp: 50%

Go Brewers!

A pox on the next person who buys into this Righty Curse

This line is too good to not hit better than they are against right hand pitchers.

What is the ratio of right handed pitchers to left handed pitchers in the MLB My guess is over 3:1 they better figure this out now or this season is shot before it starts.

but then again Ned Yost is still the Brewers manager so the season is most likely shot already

Sigh

Its all about the Bullpen this season that is the key.

I agree

If I’m recalling correctly, the only left-handed bats we lost from last season are Johnny Estrada and Geoff Jenkins. Considering their current replacements, Kendall and Kapler, have been two of the better hitters on the team to start the season, the whole righty-on-righty excuse can’t really stand.

I don't think there's a curse

and you’re absolutely correct in saying that they should hit a whole lot better. I do think they struggle against right handers who are the softer throwers and use more movement. I would call them “junky” but that isn’t the best descriptor. I just can’t think of a better one right now.

I never thought I'd say this

but boy, I wish Gabe Kapler were playing.

I haven't seen a CV start yet this year

They have all been either weekday day games, or non FSN games so far.

Tonight “WMLW means I have an opportunity to watch the bucks”. Declined, w/o thanks.

24 pitches no outs

What is the over under on Villy making it 4 innings tonight?

Calling it now

McClung gets a win tonight

Because it’ll look very wise if it happens.

And Bush lives another day?

I’m thinking Villy may just have bought some more “seasoning” time in AAA in the last half hour.

Can' t they both go?

PLEASE

Jennings

Gave up about 9 in one inning one time last year with the Astros, so he must have had a few pitches.

So

How about those Bucks… Ramon Sessions is looking pretty good.

Memories

I remember when Bill Wegman couldn’t get an out in the first inning in 1995.
He retired.

by Lake County on Apr 16, 2008 7:44 PM CDT reply reply   0 recs

finally

2 runs is relativly minor damage.

by ksbrewer on Apr 16, 2008 7:45 PM CDT reply reply   0 recs

45 pitches is significant, though

Holy crap.

He's extremely quick and good.

by battlekow on Apr 16, 2008 7:45 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Only 2

Seemed like a 10-run inning, eh?

by Lake County on Apr 16, 2008 7:45 PM CDT reply reply   0 recs

Bush..

Only person happy about that inning is Bush?

by SgtClueLs on Apr 16, 2008 7:45 PM CDT reply reply   0 recs

I miss Vargas

I’d watch 50 Vargas nailbiters rather than a “great” outing by Bulldog.

by ol Pete on Apr 16, 2008 7:47 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

And Zach Jackson

He’s going to get called up to be the long man once McClung has to go on the DL after 6 relief innings today.

He's extremely quick and good.

by battlekow on Apr 16, 2008 7:47 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

not Narv-uh-something?

Narveson isn't on the 40-man

wow

according to the BS that I’m stupid for believing, he was a choice for the starting five by more than one person among the mystery voters of starters.

by ol Pete on Apr 16, 2008 7:51 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Maybe

It’s like the Bucks, and Melvin has a secret cadre of sports fan lawyers that make decisions (though to be accurate, it would need to be Mark A that has that secret cadre)...

by drezdn on Apr 16, 2008 7:53 PM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Also

McClung, who will use tonight as a chance to win Jamie’s respect.
