A pox on the next person who buys into this Righty Curse

This line is too good to not hit better than they are against right hand pitchers.

What is the ratio of right handed pitchers to left handed pitchers in the MLB My guess is over 3:1 they better figure this out now or this season is shot before it starts.

but then again Ned Yost is still the Brewers manager so the season is most likely shot already

Sigh

Its all about the Bullpen this season that is the key.

I agree

If I’m recalling correctly, the only left-handed bats we lost from last season are Johnny Estrada and Geoff Jenkins. Considering their current replacements, Kendall and Kapler, have been two of the better hitters on the team to start the season, the whole righty-on-righty excuse can’t really stand.

I don't think there's a curse

and you’re absolutely correct in saying that they should hit a whole lot better. I do think they struggle against right handers who are the softer throwers and use more movement. I would call them “junky” but that isn’t the best descriptor. I just can’t think of a better one right now.

by keephopealive on Apr 16, 2008 8:11 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

with all the discussion of Kendall

and all the talk over there about what a genius their pitching coach Duncan (right?) is, I wonder if Molina is calling a great game or Duncan is great at his job – and conversely whether Maddux is good, great or otherwise.

Didn't

Duncan get a lot of credit early last year for the Braden Looper transition, and then that quickly fell apart?

Besides, that great defense they’ve lived off of years shouldn’t be quite as good absent Edmonds and Rolen, right?

Murton

I don’t get the Cub’s Murton hate. If it was because of defense they should be just as pissed at Soriano.

A few years ago, they had an all-French outfield in spring training, with Jacque Jones, Marquis Grissom, and Juan Pierre, but stupid Grissom had to go and retire.

He's extremely quick and good.

by battlekow on Apr 16, 2008 9:15 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Definitely

While Soriano was bound to get hot eventually, he’s just not a lead off hitter. With him out of the way, they could put a decent one in

by drezdn on Apr 16, 2008 9:12 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

They’re better off without the Soriano that has an OBP of .230 right now, and they’re better off without him in the leadoff spot. They aren’t better off without him in their line up though.

by drezdn on Apr 16, 2008 9:17 PM CDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

i don't know

As much as I dislike him and the Cubs whenever you have a player with that much potential power and talent it hurts their team

Up to 4-5 Weeks

According to Disabled List Informer. At least it wasn’t an achilles injury though, which might have ended his season.

As much as I dislike the Cubs, hate to see anybody get seriously injured.
