Mets at Astros, April 15, 1968
The top of the Brewers order didn't have a good night last night, but it was nothing compared to the Mets of forty years previous. On that night, the first four batters in the Mets lineup combined to go 2 for 39 with one walk. They eventually lost 1-0 in 24 innings as the Astros lineup was little better (in fact, both lineups were 11-79 in the game). There were only two extra base hits in the game (both doubles) and twenty singles.
2 for 39!!!

To be fair
A lot of those 37 outs were “productive outs.”
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
