MLB.TV Blackouts
Anyone who has MLB.TV has experienced the blackout policy's wrath. I for example can't watch the crew when they play Houston on MLB.TV even though I live in a completely different TV Market (Dallas). Well, someone has created a petition to have that reviewed. If you want to sign it, go ahead. I couldn't get the HTML to work, so below is the link. Maybe we can all make this world a better place through it.

what i dont understand
is why they don’t just show the adds and take away the blackouts, then the local networks could count the extra viewers and charge more for adds…..there is probably something here i don’t understand though….. Did you know in Iowa 6 teams are blacked out? There is a map here

They were still showing the ads
a while ago…I think they stopped sometime late during the 2006 season. They’ve experimented with MLB.com-themed ads in the meantime and I always figured that was supposed to be a precursor to MLB Advanced Media selling their own ad slots on MLB.tv, but it hasn’t happened so far so we’ve got the silent commercial breaks now.

Within the next year
MLB is reviewing the blackout policies, so hopefully this will be taken care of.

These blackouts
I’m glad that MLB is finally sorting out their blackout issue. A little late to matter to me, since I’m going to be living in WI again by the time it takes effect, but it’s still a good step.
I always thought it was the height of ridiculousness that here in Iowa, we’re in the blackout region of the Brewers, White Sox, Cubs, Twins, Cardinals and Royals. I can’t speak for the rest of the state, but the most populated areas of the eastern third of Iowa is definitely Cubs territory.
