LaPorta
Boy, what a difference a week makes. I was worried about LaPorta’s slow start, and all of a suddent he hits 3 homeruns in 3 days, and has an OPS of 0.956. I guess I should keep that in mind about Rickie’s slow start.

Reza
Wow, he batted three times. Remember when Johnny Damon went 3-3 in the first inning against the Marlins a few years back?
He's extremely quick and good.

Had to go find it
RED SOX 1ST:
Damon doubled to right;
Walker singled to center
[Damon scored];
Garciaparra doubled to center [Walker to third];
Ramirez homered [Walker scored, Garciaparra scored];
Ortiz doubled to right;
Millar singled to center [Ortiz scored];
TEJERA REPLACED PAVANO (PITCHING);
Nixon singled to right [Millar to second];
Mueller walked [Millar to third, Nixon to second];
Varitek singled to center [Millar scored, Nixon scored, Mueller to second];
Damon tripled to right [Mueller scored, Varitek scored];
Walker singled to right [Damon scored];
the Red Sox score 10 runs before making an out setting a new record;
LEVRAULT REPLACED TEJERA (PITCHING);
Garciaparra popped to catcher;
Ramirez singled to right [Walker to third];
Ortiz walked [Ramirez to second]; Millar hit a sacrifice fly to center [Walker scored];
Nixon walked [Ramirez to third, Ortiz to second];
Mueller doubled to center [Ramirez scored, Ortiz scored, Nixon to third];
Varitek walked;
Damon singled to left [Nixon scored, Mueller out at home (left to catcher), Varitek to second];
14 R, 13 H, 0 E, 2 LOB. Marlins 1, Red Sox 14.
He had 3/4 of the cycle after the first inning (and never did hit that HR).
He's extremely quick and good.

I remember
Jack McKeon being mad the Red Sox ran up the score and someone with the Red Sox saying they wouldn’t have done it if Florida had pitched better.
Obscure baseball records and more at my blog, Recondite Baseball.

The other thing I remember about that game
Walker doubled to pitcher [Damon to third]; NEAL REPLACED OLSEN (PITCHING);Walker lined the ball off the pitcher’s face. (That’s Kevin Olsen, not Scott)
He's extremely quick and good.
