The crowd boos after Prince's hit
I was thinking there were more Card fans than Crew fans, but here comes Suppan to bunt again..

it's a lot to ask a pitcher to bunt everyday...

Pitcher bunting
Is cute when it works. Reeks of roster mismanagement when it doesn’t.

pitch
bill hall won’t see a better pitch than that hanging slider
Glaus played short a couple years ago
I’m surprised TLR moved Pujols, given that he can’t throw.
He's extremely quick and good.
that's not bad, actually
probably as good as what they’ve got now.
Also, cheese.

God I hate that
With all the other stress, I don’t think I could have handled that. I would be down a radio.
He's extremely quick and good.

T-Bow
Turnbow getting loose? Bush looked like he may have been streching out too?
Bush
Has an ERA at 7.80 as a reliever… even higher than his ERA this year thus far!
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
i wouldn't be suprised to see a hit and run here

Just wondering about Suppan
When is the last time he’s pitched against the Cards? It just seems like he hasn’t in a long long time.
what is up
with all of these ridiculous brewers mustaches? it’s like we’re asking to be deported together back to mexico.
Kapler
Walk off, cementing his legend in Milwaukee, breaks his leg rounding second. Tony Graffinino, who was just watching the game for fun carries him around the bases.
graffacouncilino!
Really surprised nobody has picked up the guy on a whim that he’s going to come back midseason and hit .240 with a few home runs and that rough n’ tough spirit.
him playing 2nd
Seriously, Ned and Tony need to just spent a few hours after the game playing chess and getting it out of their systems.
Ned Yost says:
“You never told me the horse could go like an L i thought it was just precautionary… like using Turnbow.”
Oh my god...
Three minutes after signing up i’ve made jeff laugh… i’m hotter than ryan braun in san diego in mid-may ‘07. or mitch stetter’s first pitching performance against the pirates last year…
Do you think Ned will go to the extreme and leave us with only 8 position players?
Or only 7 players? The bullpen would be full of grit at least

In his defense...
If Mike Cameron maybe starts juicing on the side he could cover … all of the outfield. Then we’d only need … 6 position players… and Joe—wait nevermind.
who wouldn't love for yost to get thrown out

something i just thought of
if you’re a home town fan at your home park and let’s say you’re sitting behind the plate, directly first row. and you told the hitter where the pitch was going to be….

11 innings!
Boy I’m extremely glad we have 14 pitchers at our disposal…. just for times like these!!! sarcasm

2nd
time for an opposite fied moon shot for his 2nd
Well
now its the end of the day here at work and i have to either leave and miss the end before i get home or stay and make it obvious that i’ve hanging out listening to the game for the past couple of hours. hmmmmm
Can't pitch Gagne in rain. He’s like the B-2 bomber of baseball.--TheJay
man, i gotta leave for work at 5
I didn’t think I’d be worried about missing the end of the game.
(or being late for work, I suppose)
Also, cheese.
got the opposite problem here

8 pitchers?!?!
We’ve used 8 pitchers today? And thats just so far, or does McClung have to go the rest of the way regardless?
Can't pitch Gagne in rain. He’s like the B-2 bomber of baseball.--TheJay
8 = starter + 7
leaving Turnbow
and Bush, in an emergency.
Also, cheese.
by Jeff Sackmann on Apr 22, 2008 4:22 PM CDT up reply actions
at this point
would a position pitcher do as well as turnbow?

the answer...sadly...is yes

Maddux pitched seven innings
after the Padres’ marathon game the other day, even though he was lit up for six runs in the first.

Pujos
I would have liked to have seen pujos field that one
who can we go get
...when Hall is at .220/.240/.360 in mid-July?
by James Stanley Cocanower on Apr 22, 2008 4:31 PM CDT reply actions
So who gets the next pinch hit AB
almost has to be Gallardo, right? You can’t use Bush unless you’re planning on pinch hitting him, and you can’t use Rivera unless he’s going to catch
It has to be said
That this has been a very, very good game for Gabe Gross. he nearly won the game with a homer in his last AB.
and by the way
why did Yost take Hart out on the double switch way back when instead of Hall? I was following on Gameday. Did Corey get hurt or something? Seems like Hardy could have come in to play SS with Counsell moving over to 3B.

Just want to say
I was 75% percent correct on how the game would end…
Gabe Gapler comes through again.
FSN Still Sucks
Way to play the exit music over the Kapler interview.
Seriously, they need to look at a move there.
It also
counts as an earned run and not an error on Weeks if I’m not mistaken, because you can’t assume a DP.
i am actually lol

Me
I suppose it’s a horrible thing that I get chest tightness in games like this. Usually, I feel better after the Brewers win, but today it’s taking a little while to ease off.
The Brewers are going to kill me. Of this I am certain.

Of Course
Now we have to go face the decent Phillies, while Saint Louis gets to face the reeling Pirates.
All hail the son of Clung
very nice job by Mota and McClung today
McClung has really done a nice job the last two times out.
Now on to the Phillys with a fried bull pen and a injured Sheets just keeps getting better and better ;)
Its all about the Bullpen this season that is the key.
a little?
he may have just sky rocketed
by SunglassesAtNight on Apr 22, 2008 4:47 PM CDT up reply actions
I agree with SGN
McClung stock is soaring like a .com in the 90’s lol he is getting the job done and if they can work him into the rotation it will take the strain off of Mota and Torres
Its all about the Bullpen this season that is the key.
as much as I hate to say it
You cannot pin this on GAGne he got the ground ball he needed Weeks spit the bit but then you have to remember 3 of those runs were driven in by Rickie
So who do we blame for the almost mess that occurred today
Derrick Turnbow of course I do not have time to explain why it as all Turnbow’s fault you will just have to trust me on this one ;)
Its all about the Bullpen this season that is the key.
Uh, pretty sure Gagne put runners on first and third with nobody out
Also pretty sure that Weeks had nothing to do with that.
He's extremely quick and good.
To his credit
He basically got out of his own mess.
Rickie can’t throw, Prince can’t scoop. I don’t know who to blame more….oh yeah, Turnbow
That's true, of course. But from my seat at the game (and the reply I watched on the TV right after)
Weeks had more than enough time to make that throw. He panicked and rushed it, and the ball bounced about 8 feet in front of Fielder. He had an error earlier in the game and on the same play he threw the ball past Fielder on a play where the bobble left him with no chance to get the runner at all. The runner’s failure to advance was the only thing that kept him from a second error on the same play.
That said, we certainly would have lost the game without that triple…

I just heard through the grapevine that Gabe Gross was traded to the Rays and we got a minor league prospect. TGjr is coming up.
