Jenks

just a quick question here .. i was stuck at work and unable to watch the game last night, just wondering how the brewers fans took to jenkins coming back home for the first time??   i really hope they gave him a good applause!! After all of the things that he has done for the city and all the years that he spent here, i would hate to hear any booos coming from the fans at Miller Park.  I suspect we gave him a nice ovation tho, am i right?

I wasn't at the game

But it sounded like people cheered him, even when he robbed Weeks of a hit.

The place was loud when he was introduced...

...and went crazy for his first at bat. It was awesome.

Sounds like

the fans cheered more for Jenkins than for Fielder’s home runs.

I only heard the game

But they said it was a largely standing ovation for his first AB.

About 5-10 minutes before the game started

they did a video tribute to him on the scoreboard. You know, PA announcer says something to the effect of, “Fans Welcome back Geoff jenkins and here’s a look at some of his best moments here in Milwaukee….” (Or something like that).

Then it went on to show a bunch of his career highlights like his first hit (I think Matty V was on the call?), it showed Burnitz laughing in the dugout after his first career HR, it showed one of him ribbing Jeter at home on a hit to right field, and a few other diving catches and walk off hits.

He got a nice ovation then, he got a nice ovation when he went out to Right Field by the people in that corner, and he got a really long quasi-standing ovation at his first AB. The booing was inaudible for the most part, but it really seemed like the Brewers went out of their way to make sure of that. They were kind of proactive by starting the Jenkins love fest with the videos before he took his first AB. Definitely the best return of a Brewer player that I can remember in recent history, though I did laugh hysterically when he faced our Stetter and struck out. I remember thinking it would be funny if at that moment the cued up a video tribute to all of the times he struck out VS. LHP from like 2005-2007. :)

I swear to God I think I could hit a Matt Wise changeup......

i was there

missed the tribute, but had a chance to stand a cheer for him during his ab’s (and the robbing of weeks). there was this really fat guy next to me who booed jenks, but that was the only one i heard all night. defnitely gotta say it was louder for price than jenks though, but i was happy he didn’t get booed like most of the others

I was at the game

The cheering for Jenks was amazing to be apart of. I was sitting in the RF bleachers so we cheered when he came out to the field for the first time too. There were about 3 fans that tried to get a Jenkins, Jenkins, you suck chant going but that quickly ended when our whole section got an asshole chant going toward them. We did cheer louder though for both of Prince’s homers.
