Thanks jacob
I’d like to see Torres and Mota switch spots on that list.
He's extremely quick and good.

pretty dramatic what happens to the overall numbers
when every single f’ing game goes to extra innings!
Also, cheese.

was just going to mention that.
without much mop-up duty to be had, mcclung and turnbow with big bumps, the only interesting change here, i think is Riske’s. Someone how he managed to get put into less crucial situations than he had the first two weeks…

chicken or egg?
He has pretty much sucked these last two weeks, too (8 ER in 4.3 IP).

great point.
Does Yost get points for putting sucky riske into lower leverage situations or demerits for causing riske to pitch worse by using him inappropriately?
I say bonus points for the Yoster. I think Riske was used pretty heavily in the first couple weeks, right? makes sense to move him into less critical situations while he “rests.”
Right about this time last year, greg aquino was on the gmLI leaderboard, and coughed up 3 games before being sent away. 3 games looms mighty large in retrospect. I really think with gagne, torres, mota, and riske in the bullpen it’s been yost-proofed. As long as those four are in the top spots (LOOGYs notwithstanding) Yost’s got a thumbs up from me.

Funny you should mention Aquino
as I just saw this in a yahoo fantasy article. Seems he’s up to his old tricks.
In the seventh inning of today’s White Sox-Orioles game, Chicago had the bases loaded, nobody out, and AJ Pierzynski at the plate. Broadcaster Hawk Harrelson made the following comment:“You’ve got to be aggressive, yet selective.”
As it turned out, selectivity without any aggression whatsoever would have been the better course. Pierzynski struck out by swinging at non-strikes.
So if you ever find yourself facing Greg Aquino with runners on, just be patient.

this would be
the aquino report had “dwarf grit” not made itself available. (thanks roguejim!)

You're welcome!

Note the bits of grit on the ground.

derrick turnbow
I think we all know that Turnbow’s numbers just went up because he got that one save. Besides that, Yost is still hesitant to use him in big-time situations. Mota has been very impressive, and Torres has been as well. Mitch Stetter…how about that guy?! Nothing like getting called up and producing!
