If the Brewers do run the shift more often then other teams...

...it doesn’t seem to be too obvious from the hit location data. That’s for all Brewers shortstops in 2007. I guess it would be more productive to look at third basemen…

Just got home

great to see the crew kicking butt, but the stat line on Sheets has me worried: 4 runs and 7 (!) walks in 5 innings. Did it look like he was pitching hurt or compensating? Is there reason to think this triceps is more serious than we thought?

by keephopealive on Apr 29, 2008 9:47 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

It seemed like he might be hurt

But then again the 40 degree weather could be playing a role too. This has to be the most walks in Sheets’ career, anybody have the stats to confirm that?

I didn't see anything to make me think he aggravated his shoulder...

... but I don’t think that matters. My guess is his shoulder feels pretty close to the way it did when they pulled him. His control was poor early, but I thought it actually got better as the night went on. The strike zone was tight low in the zone, which cost him a couple of strikeouts, and one of the runs and at least one of the walks came after errors fom Prince and Hall.

I don’t like that they ran him out there for 108 pitches, and I wish they would have sat him down after that long break after the 2nd. But I didn’t see any sign of a new injury…

Sure

But it’s not a one-year deal. Gagne is. That’s all.

Really?

I’m pretty happy with Cameron (even prior to his nice debut)

Cameron was a great signing given the context

But I think Fukudome is really quite good.

He's extremely quick and good.

I'm not sold

His defense isn’t impressive and his offense probably won’t hold up. There’s only one Ichiro.

One other thing I have noticed

On two strikes he wants to go the other way all the time. Bust him in.

What’s the condition of the pitcher’s mound? Did it have a manicure recently?

Just got back from Wrigley...

I’m a Brewers fan in Chicago and just got home after leaving a 9-4 game (it’s cold and I have to get up at 5am and I’m going tomorrow – that was just to make me feel better). As a Brewers fan whose gone to many games at Wrigley the last few years, I must say that there are a lot of Brewers fans that enter this stadium and become stupid.

Maybe it’s the luck of the draw on my seats, but never see Brewers fans act so stupid at Milller Park. Whose been to Wrigley lately? What do you think?

by Big In 2015 on Apr 29, 2008 10:35 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I used to live in Wrigleyville

Always tried to be cool. Never put up with any crap, but didn’t really give it either.

Never saw much obnoxiousness personally.
