Instead, let's just put additional comments in this thread.

Yeah

But they want Rottino to focus on catching so that's why he's getting the bulk of the starts behind the plate.

A new thread, eh?

I don't like this newfangled technology!

(It's amazing how traffic everywhere seems to have spiked. Even Bucs Dugout which last season got almost no traffic in game threads has a lot so far.)

It's nice to see Weeks with an average higher than .220.

i suppose councell could do it :)

So maybe one of those, trying to find the last time they beat up another team so handily.

Not that I think badly of Miller Park official scorers...

But I wouldn't be too surprised if the home run he gave up means he didn't pitch effectively enough to get the save.

Save

The official scorer shall credit a pitcher with a save when such pitcher meets all four of the following conditions:
(1) He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his team;
(2) He is not the winning pitcher;
(3) He is credited with at least a third of an inning pitched; and
(4) He satisfies one of the following conditions:
(a) He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches at least one inning;
(b) He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, or at bat or on deck; or
(c) He pitches for at least three innings.

Ah, yeah

They changed Rule 10.19 now. It used to say "He pitches 'effectively' for at least three innings."

Obscure baseball records and more at my blog, Recondite Baseball.

by TheJay on Apr 4, 2008 4:19 PM CDT up reply actions

It didn't used to be

Maybe they changed it now after Jae Seo got robbed of a save that way a year or two ago. Some of the media guides haven't been updated if that is the case.

Turnbow

Are they warming him up if Torres implodes or something, or is Ned just messing with us now.

by drezdn on Apr 4, 2008 4:09 PM CDT reply actions

My guess

Ned was about to call in Turnbow, until Mark A. started giving him the stink eye.

That begs to be made into a UR DOIN IT WRONG macro.

Well, this was a fun day to blog over here. The Giants get their asses kicked in too many times, but at least we had some good hosts on this blog to laugh with and make penis jokes with. You guys are pretty cool.

I'd have to agree Baron

(of course I'm late to the party after having to work tonight) You guys are a lot better than most others. Of course, we've only had Dodger fans to fratenize with and that's not allowed. When the dodgers score runs they rip angels wings off.
