Gagne, backing up Ned's persistance in him
Just read an article on JSOnline. They interviewed Eric Gagne following todays game, and while Ned Yost continues to sit and wait because he doesn't make decisions following tough losses, it appears Gagne is suggesting the move for our thick-headed skipper.
"I don't deserve that ninth inning right now. It's very simple," said Gagne, who surrendered two ninth-inning runs that allowed St. Louis to pull out a 5-3 victory at Miller Park.
How can you continue with a guy in the 9th, after he admits he doesn't even believe he can get it done?

Once again
players have to make a change themselves because Ned doesn’t realize it has to occur.
I’m probably in the minority, but I still think Gagne will be alright. Give him a week or two to pitch and hopefully luck will swing back into his favor and he’ll reel off a few saves in a row.
The bigger story here, though, is that Ned is too incompetent or too stubborn to make a change- again- and the players have to basically make it themselves.

10 million dollars makes the decision a little harder

Why?
Seriously, why does 10 million make the decision harder? They have to pay it no matter how he’s used or even if he’s cut, so what difference does it make? How does watching him give up runs in the 9th make anyone feel better about paying him 10 million than having him pitch in the 7th, 8th, or ala Turnbow, only in blowouts?
Doug, please fire Ned.

Everyone.

I agree with everything you say but
they want to give every possible chance to the guy to make sure they spent the money wisely.

Hey, since Gagne's being a stand up guy about it,
maybe now would be a good time to ask him to accept a cut in salary?
Doug, please fire Ned.

That's good thinking
He’s such a great guy, though, that I’m sure he’s already cut a cut refunding a portion of his salary. I’m sure that once his people work out the tax implications, he’ll put a stamp on it and send it in.

Classy
Well it’s at least nice to see him agreeing with all the talk about his struggles and wants to make it easier for the team. Now if only Ned listened to that lil interview as well as get over the idea you need a “closer”.

Encapsulated
Gage put it all in a nice small box for us last night by demonstratin 3 qualities we will never see out of Ned. Humility, Honesty, Accountability. Yes, Gagne has been a huge disappointment thus far and yes I am pissed. However, I am willing to give the man a chance to go fix it because of the 3 items above and the fact that we already spent the $10 Mil.
Ned on the other hand deserves no such rope. He has had 5 years to demonstrate any one of these 3 qualities and/or demonstrate any significant managerial skillsand has failed to do so. Gagne demonstrated for us as clearly as ever why Ned must go. For me it is that simple.
