gagne is french canadian for turnblow

I despise this guy.  His unabomber lookin beard, his goggles that always fog up, and he can't save a lead, or hold one at that.  The bats haven't started either, but no matter the situation, gag-knee sucks it up.  I am so glad it was a one year deal, he's a joke of a pitcher when he's not cheating (mitchell report). The extra year and a couple million dollars more, and we'd still have coco closing out the games.

Blaming Gagne is lazy

There are plenty of reasons that the team has not performed so far. Gagne certainly has not pitched well, but they’ve lost 2 games as a direct result of his poor pitching and another after failing to score for 3 more innings when they lost in the 12th.

The extra year and a couple million dollars more, and we’d still have coco closing out the games.

I know this is a rant-inspired thought, but do you really believe that? Cordero blew 7 games last year, with an 0-4 record. People seem to forget that run of blown saves he had last summer. I’m sure that in 2010 and 2011 you’d post an irrational fanpost to insult Melvin for locking up Cordero for about $12 million in those two years.

And I also think referring to “Turnblow” and “Gag-knee” isn’t very funny. “Turnblow” isn’t very original anymore, and I don’t even get “Gag-knee”. His knee is gagged?

agreed

you guys are having some hitting issues. When you got weeks under .200 and Fielder with a mediocre average you know you just aren’t hitting. It’s not just Eric Gagne. I agree that he isn’t good though and shouldn’t be pitching anymore

First Who Cares what a Cubs Fan Troll from Ohio thinks about the Brewers

You take away the 3 games they have lost due to GAGne and you are at 20 and 16 a game or so out of first place instead of 17-19 2 games under .500 tied with the Pirates for 4th place also all the extra work in extra inning games for the pen even when they won the game.

There is no way to be sure Cordero would have been any better he has only pitched 5 times this year in what could be considered save situations he was starting to falter at the end of last year.

In the end GAGne has become Turnblow two but this mistake is worse because if Melvin had paid attention to GAGne in Boston you knew this result was coming Melvin might as well have made a pile of that 10 million and set it on fire

Its all about the Bullpen this season that is the key.

stfu jihad.

what are you trying to defend jihad? seven games all year versus five blown out of the first 13 or 14 chances, do some math, it makes little sense. But thanks for telling me about the posts i will make in a couple years, I didnt even realize i was going to post those yet, you should be a psychic. jihad, should deem any of his thoughts completely irrelevant because his baseball knowledge is little league. melvin’s a solid gm, but he knew the market for closers was thin this offseason, so the extra $2 million, and another season for cordero could shorten the game to eight innings.

p.s. again to jihad, your opinion on the originality or humor of my material is also irrelivent, please post only if you have something valuable to say. i find rather unlikely.

so the extra $2 million, and another season for cordero could shorten the game to eight innings

The extra $4 million would have gotten the Brewers Cordero for 4 years, not 1. Sure, he was a better option for this year, but not for the next 3- investing that much in a relief pitcher over that period of time would be insane.

And to “shortening the game to eight innings”: I’m just trying to point out that Cordero wasn’t exactly perfect last year.

What am I trying to defend? I’ve obviously not been happy with what Gagne has done. I guess I don’t understand what the original point of your post was. Was it: Gagne sucks right now? If that’s the case, we all know that already. But he’s not the only reason they’ve been bad this year, and blaming him for everything isn’t very effective, and I think it’s something that a more “casual” fan would do.

personal

attacks are unwelcome on this site. “stfu” is inappropriate, as is “please post only if you have something valuable to say. i find rather unlikely.”

Also, cheese.

Jumping on Cubs fans the second they post something of value and not trolling? I’d like to think thats in the unwelcome category

Cordero

had an Away ERA of 6.55 over the entirety of last season, has a worse K/BB than Gagne so far this season, and wanted a huge 4-year deal at the ripe age of 33. He’s had more success than Gagne to start the year, but that signing still would have been a much bigger mistake.

"Another season for cordero could shorten the game to eight innings."

Interesting fact: after today’s game, the team is 13-1 when leading after eight innings this year, despite Gagne’s blowups.

distorted fact

because that leaves out games when the brewers score two runs in the top of the 10th, and he proceeds to give up three runs in the bottom half. not only that, but he’s taxed our bullpen more than needed.

booyakasha!

by b3nihana on May 12, 2008 9:05 AM CDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

That was one game

And yeah, it’s distorted, but it’s not like the team is regularly blowing leads they have after eight innings. I just thought it was funny that you would say Cordero could shorten the game to eight innings when the team has done very well this year at winning games they’ve lead after eight. Games when it’s tied after eight, not so much.

i sorry.

tell me a closer that is perfect, that point is irrelevant. did the brewers not offer cordero 3 years at about $10 million, so whats an extra year at $12 million per? how am i blaming gagne for everything, i said the bats are teasing the mendoza line but the fact remains we should be closer to a couple games over .500 than under. im sorry for my previous attacks on the jihad, my bad.

It's unavoidable

Both the increased interested in the team and blogging in general, coupled with what I hope is continued quality, ensure that more and more fans will be posting, and a lot of them are going to be of the “casual” (read that however you choose) variety.

I don't mind "casual" fans

Can’t say I’m too thrilled with the ensuing temper tantrums when the rest of us don’t fall all over ourselves to recognize the brilliant wisdom in rants such as the one above, though…

compared to Jeff and many others who frequent this site. I don’t mind the ranting posts. I’ve done a couple of them myself. I just don’t like what came next.

You're very clever

Because the word “fan” was originally derived from a shortening of “fanatic” in the late 19th Century, the two words must surely still be synonymous. Surely.

Did you know that “fascism” has the same roots as the word “faggot”, both originally referring to a bundle of sticks?

He's extremely quick and good.
