Changes needed in Milwaukee

I know that Ned Yost and Doug Melvin are discussing the starting rotation today.  That is a problem, but I am not overly convinced that the Crew has anyone that can do better than Villy or Bush.

There are some changes that need to be made.  Eric Gagne, Bill Hall, and company are killing the Brewers right now.  Is there any hope on the horizon?  I believe there is.  See more about what changes I am talking about right here.

well

you’re on the wrong site for that sort of pessimism. “small sample size, it’s still early, long season….” blah, blah, blah

"You guys know me. I take a long time to analyze things."

mixed review

i agree 100% on the $10,000,000 lemon. I feel Mota should get a shot at closing, but it is more likely to be a “closer by committee” situation. i also think shouse deserves a
shot.
I don’t think it is time for ned to leave – yet – although i would not give him more than 10 days to right the ship. the hitting has been so bad that he has not had a chance to make good managerial decisions – or bad ones. but if it continues, the manager is usually the sacrifice.
russell the muscle is an interesting idea. maybe we can grab a “hurricane hazel”. let’s replace craig with him – they are both lefties. that would leave billy as a utility infielder. wasn’t he one before? of course, i’d rather see him at second and our even worse hitter, ricky, riding the pines.

more #22

we need more tony gwynn, that kid has a great eye at the plate already, and he doesn’t force the issue of hitting with power. he knows he needs to get on base any way possible, and a hall of fame pedigree doesnt hurt either. do a 4-man platoon to get him more at bats.

"he knows he needs to get on base any way possible"

Last year, in 126 at bats, his OBP was .326, and in another 126 ABs in Nashville, his OBP was also .326. And his lack of power isn’t exactly a positive point. I don’t mind him getting an occasional start, but having him take away too many at-bats would hurt the team.

Whenever prince is at first, he should charge the mound and yell "MEAT!"

nobody said little power is a positive...

currently in 20 ABs this yr his OBP is up around .440, and he’ll strike out way less than cameron, and braun and hart could have days off against some righties. im not saying a lot of ABs, but give him 2-3 starts per week.

p.s. there are a lot of players that know they need to get on base any way possible and dont.

Unless they NEED a day off, I never want Braun and Hart out of the lineup

And I’m not ready to give up on Cameron after two weeks.

OBP in 20 ABs doesn’t matter.

exactly, days they need off, play more gwynn..

2-3 games a wk is nothing, that means cameron could get one game off each week considering he’s 35 yrs old and strikes out a ton, and braun and hart could have something like a game off every other week. gwynn at leadoff instead of rickie is intriguing as well.

Three games a week is half of the games in a week

It’s not about finding time off for the other guys, it’s about the fact that Gwynn is a much worse baseball player than any of our starting outfielders. Starting him three times a week would contribute significantly to the neutering of our offense.

He's extremely quick and good.

neutering with speed...

ok 2 games, one for cameron, and every other wk for hart/braun. cameron strikes out a ton, 15 in 11 games already.

Well, that sucked again. But put this afternoon's game, and the seventh inning in particular, out of your mind for the evening and focus instead on the return of the Brewers' best pitching prospect to the mound after a 50-game drug suspension. That's right, Jeremy Jeffress is once again suiting up for the Brewers--or, more precisely, the High-A Brevard County Manatees. The game starts at 6:00 Central, and you can follow it here.
