NCAA Division 3 World Series in Appleton
From Friday until Tuesday, the NCAA Division 3 World Series will be going on in Appleton. Grand Chute, actually, at Fox Cities Stadium, where the Timber Rattlers play.
I went last year, and had a blast. I wrote an article about the experience at The Hardball Times, which you can read here. I'm going back this year -- in fact, if all goes according to plan, I'll be in attendance at every game.
I would imagine some of you might drop by too ... I know at least one other BCBer will be making an appearance. If you're anywhere in the vicinity, I highly recommend it. If you will be attending, drop a note in the comments, or send me an email, so we can say hi.
For more info on the tournament itself, check out D3baseball.com, which is a great resource. The schedule is already set for Friday, and the games on the following days will depend on who wins which games. It's a double-elimination tournament, so the bracket can get messy, fast. Among the eight teams headed to Appleton are defending champion Kean (NJ) and UW-Whitewater. UW-Stevens Point was in it last year, but didn't fare well in their regional, losing to Linfield (OR).

Sounds great!
If you need a great fish fry check out Van Aubel’s in the city of Holland out on Cty Rd D. Used to be one of Farve’s favorite places.
The Wallbangers won because they played the game like kids! Let's do that again!!!

Just a correction
Van Abel’s, and yes it is very good. It’s a bit of a trip from Fox Cities Stadium, but worth it. And by the way, the “Town of Holland” is a town in name only- the population consists of only about 50 people.
Whenever prince is at first, he should charge the mound and yell "MEAT!"

I don't know...
That place is average. If I had, say, two dinner meals in the Appleton area, I wouldn’t “waste” one there. It’s obviously going to be a baseball trip, which requires some pizza. I say, Stuc’s Pizza, right down the road. That’s easily the best pizza in the area and it’s got tremendous toppings. I don’t know, my two cents.

Nice
As an Appleton native, I wish I could go … I now live in the Twin Cities and can’t get away this weekend. College Avenue has some great new restaurants these days as well, thanks to the new Performing Arts Center downtown!

I live right around there
Used to actually work at the stadium until early this year. Probably will head over for a few games, I can’t get enough of baseball when it’s played well by guys who give their hearts out. Great ball park and should be a great experience.

I live on the other side of Appleton
I might show up for a game or two. If you want any recommendations or anything, let any of us who live in the area know.
