A nice overview of the Ned Yost situation from a national writer. If you read down far enough, you'll see quotes from Melvin and some crazy team blogger.

Awesome

I hope every article about Yost for the next 25 years includes the “We still have math on our side” quote.

sums it all up

a pretty good “State of the Brewers” address… Donovan forgot to mention Turnbow though

very nice article

Some good quotes in there too, even if some were from one of those “unreliable bloggers” ;^)

Wait a minute

His nickname is ‘Nervous Ned’ and the entire team wilted under the pressure of a playoff race. Why is the brain trust in Milwaukee expecting anything different this year? And more importantly, why is this the man you want watching over a group of young kids who are most likely to emulate the personality of the manager.

Nervous Ned is right...

... and his team often plays like a young team who sense their manager lacks faith in them to avoid the “nervous ned” moniker. I love how Melvin (at least as indicated by Donovan) cites Ned’s positive attitude and cheerleading as a reason why he still has faith in him, while Ned’s former players gloss him with a nickname that shows how he undercuts the message he tries to send with all that positive talk.

That said, I could picture Donovan grinning as he wrote that article. If there’s any one on the planet that can rival Ned for dismissiveness and arrogance, it’s Donovan. My dislike for Ned is nearly rivaled by my dislike for Donovan and the preening, masturbatory tripe he passes off as sports-journalism.

Ned's cheerleading

I love how Melvin’s proof that Ned is a good cheerleader is the fact that he was on top step of the dugout. Typically I like Melvin but that comment was pretty funny. I guess “we still have the math on our side” when ned’s on the top step

Jeff

I like how you managed to get a little shot in at the cubs- that was well done.
