Todays loss Gagne's fault?
(Sighs)... There goes the chance af finishing the road trip .500.
But, what if Gagne wasn't hurt? Would he have made the save? Can another loss be placed on Gagne's shoulers?
How about this: Two runs today were scored on wild pitches. Was the loss Rivera's fault? I did not watch the game, could Kendall possibly have gotten to those balls?
If anybody could, would you take the wild pitches thrown in the games Kendall caught divided by the games he caught, to find a sort of "Wild Pitch Avg." and then do the same with Rivera?

I think he might have.
Gagne has pitched in tie games in the ninth this season…

Gagne would pitch in tie games in the ninth at home only
Closers are needed for extra innings on the road to get the save while at home they are not. Therefore, the theory goes that you use your closer at home in the 9th to give your team the best shot to win in the 9th or make it into extras.

Gagne only partially responsible
The real person to blame is Rollie Fingers for retiring in 1985.

Let's not forget
that it was Rollie Fingers, not Bob McClure, who also cost us the 1982 World Series… we never should have traded for that bum.
