LaPorta

This is getting ridiculous. I wonder if they considered giving him the call to DH in interleague play?

Whenever prince is at first, he should charge the mound and yell "MEAT!"

Not sure that would be smart.

But it would be fun. And the alternative off the current roster is likely Counsell or Gwynn at DH or sliding into the lineup. Or Dillon.

Not a fan of Kapler?

He might get the call just because he’s about the only guy on the bench who’s shown any power.

Power

Calling up Nelson or Branyan from AAA for those series would be a simple way to solve that. Then they could mix in DHing Braun and Fielder against lefties while Branyan or Nelson sits. That’s the ideal scenario for me, anyway.

Who gets sent down?

I can’t imagine the team going to only eleven pitchers, so it’d have to be a position player, meaning Dillon or Gwynn.

Brad Nelson

is off to a good start and could DH too, I guess, if they don’t want to start LaPorta’s arbitration clock yet.

i wonder

would the brewers consider trading hardy or weeks for starting pitching and calling up irrabaren (sp?) or escobar to take their place?

If you go that route

They could trade one of the corner outfielders for a big-time pitcher and call up LaPorta and really not lose that much production. That’s a pretty out-there idea, but I’m sure it’s possible.

no

Trade Laporta

by brewfan2 on May 3, 2008 9:32 AM CDT to parent up   0 recs

If they traded Hart and put LaPorta in right

Cameron would have to cover 3/4 of the outfield to hide Braunie and the rook. I’d be terrified everytime the other team hit a fly ball. I do wonder what the plan is with LaPorta playing RF. It still looks like a 2009 question to me, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a trade resolved that question before September.

I'm getting ridiculously excited about the position players at Huntsville...

... but I wish we had some arms to go with them…
