I'm sitting
in a computer lab at UW-Madison writing a paper, and watched the last couple innings on ESPN Gamecast. When the last pitch came into Rickie, the “Incoming pitch has been hit in play” status was on the screen for a good 15 seconds. Staring at those words, stewing on Weeks’ Cobb-esque .190 batting average, all I could think was “Popup. Popup. A goddamn Popup.” When those little yellow dots at second and third came in to score, three other people in the computer lab simultaneously reacted the same way I did: muted elation and disbelief. I talked to one of them, and the first thing he said was “I thought it was going to be a popup for sure.”
Thank you, Rickie Darnell Weeks Jr., for proving us wrong, and validating my procrastination…
Go Crew.

Which Library?
I’m class of ‘06. Man it feels good not to be in finals. I just go to work in the day and watch Brewers in the evening.

Memorial Library
And I’m staring an all-nighter square in the face. He’s ugly and smells vaguely of Red Bull and stale Doritos.

Yeah, agreed....
...the Law Library is nice and shiny. But I’m pretty sure they restrict access during finals week—only law students can use it. I’ve tried to penetrate their defenses, but couldn’t get past the retinal scan….or the cauldron of boiling oil….

Back in 98/99 when I was an undergrad, there was a way to sneak in on the lower floors.
But they closed that off when I was in law school. For future reference though, if you use the carrels on the lower floors that line up with the exterior windows (which are old enough to still open and have intact screens), the gap between the window and he screen makes an excellent place to conceal and chill beer (or other beverages) while you’re studying. Paticularly in fall and winter, of course. Be warned though, if your friends are aware you have this habit, bottles are easily breakable from outside the building using the stones that invariably are lying around the building.
Or so I’ve heard.
Doug, please fire Ned.
Love,
Everyone.

For actual studying purposes
anything is pretty much better than Helen C. I’m a fan of Steenbock because I can drive there and park for free.

I liked the historical society
not the greatest hours, but that place was always deserted.
And if you want to read the paper from 1868, you can!
Also, cheese.

I've only been there once
I was researching a paper and thought it was absolutely the coolest thing to be able to touch and read original copy books/pamplets/etc. from the early 1900s.

Great stuff! Great visual!
I’m sitting. . . . in Utah watching via the Xtra Innings pkg.
Or, I was.
Pent-up frustration over the last FULL week finally exploded when that slow, lazy curveball to Wellemeyer was stroked into RF for a hit, and then the count went to 3-0 on Izturis.
I had had enough.
I wanted to blast somebody. . . . bad.
Truth be told, I couldn’t have watched Weeks AB anyway.
I think I saved a good 2 years on my lifespan by not watching tonite.
