Game Thread #71: Blue Jays (35-37) at Brewers (37-33)

If you only watch one game this week, this is the one to watch.  Shaun Marcum isn't exactly a household name, but he's among the AL leaders in just about every pitching category, and at the top of the list for ERA.  Ben Sheets is right up there, too, making this one of the best pitching matchups of the year.

Game time is 7:05 CT, and here's the BR Game Preview.  I'm not sure what's cooler: that Scott Rolen has a .500 OPS against Sheets, or that Ryan Braun has a 5.000 OPS against Brian Wolfe.

Go Brewers!

Counsell leading off, playing second, Hardy back in there, Branyan still in there (big surprise).

Also, cheese.

Eh, you're right

She has two hands also. No reason for her to not participate as well.

He's extremely quick and good.

another good day for the AL

All completed interleague games have been won by the AL. Several NL teams winning in-progress games, though.

Also, cheese.

Frederickson

Apparently six of his seven strikeouts were looking at his curveball, and the two hits he gave up were both of the infield variety.

He's extremely quick and good.

with a walk… is this going to be a blowout by the Jays

I just posted the same thing... but where did Phew come from

The word… is it a word?

I think so

My spell checker told me so once upon a time.

Is it an onomatopoeia?

Torres is the man

So, carrying along the McClung analogy, doesn’t Torres mean “Son of Bull”

by keephopealive on Jun 18, 2008 9:53 PM CDT reply actions

Well, I thought the "es" and "ez" was the Spanish "Mc"

So, Rodriguez would be son of Rodrigo, etc. Of course, I have only a five word Spanish vocabulary, so I’m probably wrong

by keephopealive on Jun 18, 2008 9:58 PM CDT up reply actions

It appears you are right

Spanish is only “ez” though; Portuguese is “es”.

He's extremely quick and good.

Hey TheJay

When was the last time a closer in the midst of a multi-inning save batted?

He's extremely quick and good.

I first read that as "battled"...

...and laughed so hard I almost gagged.

I like my version better. ;)

Couple nights back I got to watch my nephew, a 2nd baseman in Legion Ball,

dislocate his shoulder on a play just like that. He took the hard slide, made the throw, but landed awkwardly on his left shoulder and popped it out of joint.

Made me want to strangle the kid who slid into him…

Brewers win!

by Ted Simmons Speed Camp on Jun 18, 2008 10:11 PM CDT reply actions

I'm not going to do this...

... but last year, a bit later in the season, when the Cubs cut a couple of games off the Brewers lead on consecutive nights, Cubs trolls showed up here and posted dreck like “here we come”. Good thing I’m a more mature person than that.

Just in case, i’ll just avoid the bleedcubbieblue site altogether for the next 24 hours or so… in case I weaken…
